Forest Essentials Honey and Vanilla Moisture Replenishing Bath and Shower Oil

My experience with Forest Essentials Honey and Vanilla Moisture Replenishing Bath and Shower Oil

Comes in the standard forest essentials bottle packaging. Sturdy and luxurious.

It’s a very lightweight oil when used immediately after a shower.

My experience

This does not smell like vanilla, let’s start there. It has a floral fragrance so if you want to go for something really vanilla scented, this is not it.

Apply it only after a shower and not anytime other than that because it will feel oily or greasy otherwise.

It Is Very Moisturising And Really Great For Your Skin’s Nourishment Overall When Used Properly.

My overall experience with Forest Essentials Honey and Vanilla Moisture Replenishing Bath and Shower Oil

  1. Smells nice
  2. Moisturizing
  3. Nourishing
  4. Sturdy packaging
  1. Expensive
  2. Does not smell like vanilla.
Would I repurchase & recommend?

It is a good product, I recommend this!

What are Important Holi Skin Care Tips ?

by Sone

Holi Skin CareTips: All geared up for Holi? There is no fun compared to the absolute fun of playing Holi with friends and family! Obviously, since this is the day we get to be children again, officially ;)Fun, frolic and colors bring with them the side effect of chemicals and resistant colors that don’t go for days !! I remember seeing loads of green and red ears during school times, and even now  :P  To save you from such un-Holi embarrassment, I am listing down some super simple,at home things that you can do,to enjoy holi without the worry of harsh chemicals damaging your hair and skin. Simply follow this checklist and you will be good to go! These pre and post holi care tips are the best How to Remove Holi Color From Face.

#1 Apply Nail Polish on your Nails :

Girls go for the darkest color nail polish you have. Apply a clear base coat. Let it dry completely, then apply the coat of dark nail polish. Once this has dried off. Finish off with a transparent coat of nail polish. Your nails will be protected from 99% of the colors this way. I suggest you either cut your nails short or apply a transparent coat-Behind your nail to protect that from colors.

Guys can simply apply three coats of transparent nail paint while holding a Ninja Turtle or GI Joe or something :P Look away if it bothers you so much ;)

Simple Holi Skin Care and Hair Care Tips 8

#2 Two-Step Oil Your Hair :

Ideally, you should apply mustard oil since it is the thickest. But if you cannot stand the smell of it, apply any oil of choice, today night itself. Tomorrow morning, like 15 minutes before you go out to play holi, slather on any hair serum. This will give you double protection! Remember to tie your hair in a bun, that ways the least of your hair is exposed to colors and chemicals.

#3 Moisturize Your Skin :

Dry skin is more susceptible to getting damaged. Tonight just slather on your favorite body lotion before going to bed. Tomorrow morning, apply coconut oil to all exposed parts of the body maximum 10 minutes before going out to play. You don’t want the oil to be absorbed. Bdw, the space between fingers and toes and they are behind the ears is most neglected. Don’t forget these places!

#4 Don’t Forget SPF

Yep , over and above all the coconut oil you have put on the body and face, you MUST slather on water-resistant sunscreen. That will protect your skin from sun damage.

#5 Wear Sunglasses

Actually, this is the day when I wish I purchase sunglasses from the roadside ;) Keep your eyes covered, wear a pair of sunglasses (preferably disposable). Wearing contact lenses is a strict no no. Keep your eyes covered and protected :)

#6 Avoid Wearing Synthetic Clothes / Denim

The last thing you want is to wear color-drenched clothes to stick to your body. Wear cotton. It’s comfortable and a much better option.

#7 Play Dry Holi

We all know dry colors are equally fun. Go for herbal colors, you will be more carefree ;) I know, I know…not everybody likes to play holi this way. But you can’t blame a girl for trying ;)

#8 Stand Under Running Water

Before you start the ritual of removing the many layers of colors, consider standing under a spray of clean water for 5-6 minutes. That will wash off most of the runny color. You can save your home from getting dirty this way :)

#9 Please Skip Scrubs

I really don’t know why people are going around advocating scrubbing your skin before or after playing with colors. Your skin has already suffered an onslaught of chemicals. Just use mild soap to cleanse your skin. Ditto with a mild shampoo and conditioner. The last thing you want to do is scrub them in while removing them. Strict no scrubs till 2 days after Holi. I am serious.

# 10 Try this Home Made Ubtan

Mix 1 tablespoon of maida with turmeric powder. Add aloe vera juice /rose water if you have access. Apply this paste on your face, neck, hands, and feet. Wash it off with milk. You will see the colors magically vanish away :)

What are the Best Skin Care Routine Steps ?

by Sone

My Skin care routine Steps : This has been requested by so many of you! In this article, I will share the basics of skincare that I follow and apply daily. It has worked well for me and I feel, if you follow it diligently, you will see a huge difference in your skin too! I am sure plenty of us are already aware of how to use our daily skincare products. For those of you who need this guide …please do read on! Here I will put up in a very simple manner, how and when to use what skin care products, AM and PM both!! :)

skincare steps

#Make up Remover

Always, always use a makeup remover to remove your makeup. Cleansing balm, micellar water…whatever..but take your makeup off like a pro. There are NO EXCUSES!!

Colorbar fresh start water cleanser review 4

# Face Wash

After removing your makeup, use the face wash of your choice. Leave it on for 10 seconds to do its job. When I say face wash, I mean the entire face, neck, near your ears, and the forehead -properly. Vigorously rubbing your cheeks and nose and calling it to face washing is not done :P  I used to get acne earlier and I switched to the Sebamed facewash which is super gentle.

Sebamed Clear Face Cleansing Foam Review Bottle full brand focus

Within 30 seconds max..yes…as quickly as possible after face wash use the toner of your choice. If you have dry skin, use a spray on hydrating toner, the ones with hyaluronic acid are the best.

If you are having acne-prone skin, most likely you will be using an acid-base pore cleansing toner. Get the best quality soft cotton pads that you can get in the market. I buy my pack from forever21 because its like dirt cheap there. Pour a bit of toner on the cotton pad …and very gently move it clockwise direction on your entire face. Always remember to use it ONLY in one direction. Otherwise, you will damage your skin. Apply it carefully to the nose, the nose joints, temples, take it down your neck, and even use it on your ears!I use toners by  Alpha H or Body shop and even pixie and am Loving it :)

body shop tea tree skin clearing toner review 5

As a rule of thumb, the thinnest skincare product goes on first followed by the thicker versions. So serums go immediately within 20 seconds of applying the toner. Again cover the entire face and neck. Apply in circular motions till it gets absorbed.Choose one that suits you well. In winters I have been using this squalene serum.

mario badescu vitamin c serum review 2

#Eye Cream

The eye cream comes just next after the serum but before the moisturizer. Take a little bit on your index finger and rub it gently in circular motions. If you want to get rid of dark circles, try THIS DIY dark circle removal cream.I am currently using this one by Pixi.

Balance Me Facial Expression Filler Cream Review

Never skip on moisturizer. It keeps your skin healthy. The one thing that people with oily skin do is not moisturize their skin. They think that it will make their skin oily. What they don’t realize is that skin has its own natural mechanism. If it feels dry it produces more oil. So if you skip moisturizer, you risk raising the wrong kind of oil production.

Again don’t skip your neck!Look at Aishwarya, she has such a pretty face…but her neck looks really aged! You don’t want that!

Forest Essentials Night Treatment Cream Jasmine & Patchouli Review 2

Obviously, to be used only during daytime :) The sunscreen goes on last…over EVERYTHING else ! Apply it liberally over face and neck. I suggest you reapply it every 2 hours for maximum protection!

Trail Mix Coffee Recipe: Okay, something really freaked me out and in a very funny way! It’s 5:30 am right now and I went out in my garden, you know just to feel the atmosphere and kind of rejuvenate myself. So it turns out that I have been looking around, the guava tree is laden with fruits and they keep plopping all over the place. I counted 7 pomegranates…few of them already reddening up…the lemons are growing nicely…ah pretty fruitful nature!!

So it’s bright outside and when I enter my house, I turn off the lights. Err you know what I mean? The habit of turning off the lights when you leave the room? Yeah, that is the one…I practically switched off the sunlight and rang my doorbell instead :P :P

So one thing was established, I was in DIRE need of some CAFFEINE  ;)

And so comes the point, where I am drinking THE TASTIEST cup of coffee in my life!! I came up with an impromptu recipe and it is oh my God delicious and a PERFECT breakfast!!

Ingredients for Trail Mix Coffee :
  1. 3 Tbsp Trail mix (If you don’t have trail mix, mix one spoon each roasted peanuts, almonds cashews, dried grapes, and M n Ms or Gems, it’s fine if they are salted..just shake off most of the salt and add in two pinches of sugar).
  2. A Drizzle of Honey (go light with it as trail mixes already have sugar)
  3. Instant Coffee Powder
  4. 2 Tablespoon rolled oats
  5. A cup of frozen and thawed milk of choice

Amritsari Paneer Bhurji Recipe

Amritsari Paneer Bhurji: Imagine then, breaking off a piece of soft chapati, taking a generous amount of pillowy yet spicy paneer bhurjee, taking a crunching bite of a fresh green chili…letting the flavors and textures take you to foodie heaven. Imagine soothing that kick of chili with a cool cucumber raita…sounds good? Monday actually became better :p ;)

Amritsari Paneer Bhurji Recipe

Paneer Bhurjee or Cottage Cheese crumble has thousands of variants literally. The recipe that I am sharing with you today, is a typical Punjabi -Amritsari dish.  It’s rich, soft and spicy! Sooo easy to make!! ;)

  1. 250 gm fresh cottage cheese crumbled
  2. 1 large onion finely chopped
  3. 3-4 green chilies chopped
  4. 1-2 medium sized tomatoes chopped
  5. 1 pinch turmeric powder
  6. 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  7. 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  8. 2-3 tablespoons of butter
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Minced ginger (optional )

In a heavy bottomed skillet, add the butter with a 1/2 teaspoon of oil. Once the butter begins to heat up, add the chopped chilies. Saute for a minute.

Amritsari Paneer Bhurji Recipe 9

Amritsari Paneer Bhurji Recipe 11

Next, add the onions and minced ginger. Saute them till they start getting translucent and a little brown towards the edges. Add all the spices and salt, except garam masala at this point. Saute for another 30 seconds or so.

Amritsari Paneer Bhurji Recipe 1

Amritsari Paneer Bhurji Recipe 2

Next, add the tomatoes. I like to add around 1 tablespoon of the cottage cheese water. Add regular water if you like. Cook the whole thing for 2-3 minutes, till the time the tomatoes lose their edges and become soft.

Amritsari Paneer Bhurji Recipe 3

The secret to soft paneer bhurji is adding the cottage cheese at the very last moment and not a minute before that. Cottage cheese is naturally spongy and in this crumbled state, it absorbs the flavor really quick. Finally, add the garam masala. Stir around for 2-3 seconds and turn the flame off!

Pindi Chana Chickpea Recipe 12

Pindi Chana Recipe: Among the many many, delicious vegetarian dishes, the Pindi Chana holds a special place  :) Whether you like it runny or on the drier side, this version of making the chickpea has its own very typical, robust flavors! Next time around you have guests over…or for the weekend lunches…give this recipe a try!

Pindi Chana Chickpea Recipe 12

I will go stepwise…making it so simple that ANYONE…and I mean anyone, can follow the instructions and nail this dish :)

Pindi Chana Chickpea Recipe 11

Ingredients :
  1. I cup Kabuli Chana or chickpeas (soaked overnight ) [If you were unable to soak chickpeas beforehand,  I have a tip for you ]
  2. 1 Teabag, Plain
  3. 1-inch ginger julienne
  4. 3 large onions finely sliced
  5. 1 large tomato chopped
  6. 3-4 cloves
  7. 1 stick cinnamon (smallish is enough)
  8. 1 teaspoon unground black pepper
  9. 1 tablespoon dried coriander seeds/husk (if you are using a powdered version, one teaspoon is enough)
  10. Red Chili Powder 1/2 teaspoon
  11. Cumin Seeds 1 tablespoon
  12. Salt to Taste
Method :

Prepare the chana masala first. If you wish to use store bought chana masala, skip this step. In my experience preparing the masala at home, gives a more robust and controlled flavor. In a skillet add all the spices except salt and red chili powder. Let the spices roast on medium heat for a couple of minutes, till they begin to pop and you can smell their fragrance getting rendered. Keep stirring the spices from time to time, to avoid burning them. I then grind these spices in a mortar and pestle. Feel free to grind them in the grinder, I prefer a coarse grind, so I use the mortar and pestle.

Pindi Chana Chickpea Recipe 2

In a large pressure cooker, add the soaked  chana/ chickpeas with 1 teabag. Add half of the spice mix we just prepared. I you are using store-bought Chana masala add 1 teaspoon .Add half of the desired salt. Put 4 cups of water and close the lid. Let 5-6 whistles come..or as long as it takes for the chickpeas to 90% cook through.

Tip : If for some reason you were unable to soak the chickpeas, follow the steps above, then put the chickpeas on LOW flame, with the pressure cooker lid on. Let 2 whistles come on LOW flame. turn off the stove. Let the pressure cooker’s steam escape on its own. When the chickpeas will come at room temperature or so, the lip will open easily. At this point put them again on the flame and allow 3-4 whistles to come on high flame.

Pindi Chana Chickpea Recipe 1

Meanwhile, in a skillet, add oil and once it heats up, add the ginger and onion. Allow it to fry on medium flame. Tumble in the rest of the spice mix, excluding red chili powder and salt. Let the spices render their oils and flavor.

Pindi Chana Chickpea Recipe 3

Pindi Chana Chickpea Recipe 5

Once you see the onions begin to brown, add the pureed tomato, salt, and red chili. Actually putting tomato is optional, but I like the way it plays in the dish. Let the gravy cook. The gravy is looking red right now, don’t worry.

Pindi Chana Chickpea Recipe 8

Pindi Chana Chickpea Recipe 9

While the gravy is almost 70% cooked, by this time open the pressure cooker. You will see the chickpeas will get the gorgeous brown color. Take the tea bag out. You will not be able to taste or smell the tea in the finished dish. I promise :) This is just for color!

Pindi Chana Chickpea Recipe 6

Pindi Chana Chickpea Recipe 7

Now add the semi-cooked gravy to the pressure cooker with the chick peas. Put the lid on and let it cook on high flame …say 2-3 whistles. At this point adjust the water in the dish to your liking.

Pindi Chana Chickpea Recipe 10

Once the dish is ready, just grab a wooden/ other spatula and mash 1/4 of the chickpeas in the gravy. This will thicken the gravy and give it that awesome texture :)

Pindi Chana Chickpea Recipe 11

Pindi Chana Chickpea Recipe 14

Whether you like your gravy a bit runny with rice, or soft spongy kulchas…or if you like it dry with flatbread and sourdough Bhaturas…take your pick :) You and your guests will L.O.V.E this dish :)

How to make Masala Bhindi at Home?

by Sone

How to make Masala Bhindi at Home? : How are you my friends!I hope you liked my earlier recipes like Pindi Chana , 10 Minute Kadhai Paneer etc Today I have come with a recipe which is a true savior! So what happens sometimes is , you bring Okra or Ladies Fingers and they are forgotten about in the fridge. They turn into these limp sad little things. This recipe that I am sharing with you today is utter;y perfect for such times. Why only stale, its gorgeously delicious on fresh ladies fingers too :) Let me share the recipe and you folks tell me how this went for you!

khatti bhindi recipe okra Indian style 7

khatti bhindi recipe okra Indian style 3

Ingredients :
  1. 1kg Bhindi / Okra
  2. 1 tablespoons anardana ie dried pomegranate seeds powdered or  dry mango (amchur powder)
  3. 2 Tablespoons Besan/ Chickpea Flour
  4. 1 tablespoons dried coriander seeds coarsely ground (use 1/2 tablespoon store variety )
  5. 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  6. 1/3 teaspoon turmeric powder
  7. salt to taste

If the okra is too ripe, cut it lengthwise fully, else make a vertical cut in the middle till 3/4 towards the tail.

TIP : If you feel the Okra has a lot of slime /lace..just squeeze the juice of a single lime after drying it. Always cook Orkra after it ahs been washed and dried. This will minimize the slime.

khatti bhindi recipe okra Indian style 10

Sprinkle the chickpea flour over the okra. Add all the spices and mix well. I like to keep 1/3 of salt behind to sprinkle on later. Make sure each and every okra piece is well coated. Normally, this recipe can be tweaked to give you really spicy and crunchy okra. In this case though, the chickpea or besan coating ensures the flavor of spices sticks on to the Okra. Let the Okra sit for 10 minutes.

khatti bhindi recipe okra Indian style 11

khatti bhindi recipe okra Indian style 9

khatti bhindi recipe okra Indian style

In a heavy bottomed skillet heat the oil of choice. If you are cooking with mustard oil, let the oil burn out and smoke first.Add the okra to the hot oil and turn the flame to medium. Stir occasionally, I personally don’t feel the need to cover it. Still if you wish, cover the skillet for not more than 5 minutes. Uncover and then let it cook on low flame , uncovered for 7-10 minutes. By this time the Okra will have crisped up, absorbed the flavors and fully cooked!

khatti bhindi recipe okra Indian style 2

khatti bhindi recipe okra Indian style 4

I think, this goes great with steamed rice and any dal. Consider this as a dish that elevates simple home food! Its more of a yummy tangy condiment that complements a lot of dishes! I hope you try this soon and let me know how this worked out :)
