My Experience with Ayur Sunscreen Lotion SPF 15
This sun protecting lotion comes in a transparent plastic bottle with a translucent orange lid. Previously the shape of the bottle was different. The new bottle is made up of very good quality plastic. In the front side of the bottle, there is a cute label graphics depicting the sun, a tree, and a colorful umbrella. On the back side, there is useful information regarding the product like the claims and the ingredients. The new packaging mentions complete ingredient list including every active and inactive constituent name while the previous had only the names of the active ingredients of the product. Overall I find the packaging to be simple, sturdy, leak-proof and travel-friendly.
This sunscreen is milky-white in color and its consistency is runny. In spite of its fluid texture, it is able to provide enough moisturization. To my oily facial skin, it feels a bit heavy so I use this product as my body sunscreen when I am staying at home. It nourishes my dry and flaky body skin really well.
This product has a light sweet smell to it. The smell stays for just a few minutes after application.
How I Use It: I apply this sunscreen twice a day; once in the morning and reapply once again in the mid-day. I have very sun-sensitive skin. More than 2-3 minutes of sun exposure summons redness and stinging sensations on my skin. That is why I do not take any chance even if I am not going out in the sun. SPF 15 is my ideal choice for a day lotion and that is the reason this Ayur sunscreen fits perfectly into my requirements.
As a body lotion this product works nicely but since it is named as a ‘Sunscreen Lotion’, we need to discuss its sun shielding aspect as well. Though it says it is for all types, its texture is too creamy to be a facial sunscreen for oily skin. For other skin types, it is an okay product. This sunscreen is able to protect my skin when I am not in direct contact with sunlight. It does not feel enough to be used alone as a proper sunscreen. It has not been able to protect my exposed skin from sun sensitivity problem more than 10 minutes when I tried it as my only sun protection. I have not seen any ‘fairness’ in my complexion after using it for about 4 weeks. So, the fairness claim is also not true like its anti-darkening claim. Overall I find this sunscreen to be similar to a body lotion with minimum SPF.
- Moisturizes skin well and removes dryness
- Works like a body lotion with SPF
- Smells good
- Easily available
- Contains paraffin and parabens
- Most of the claims are not true
- Fails to prevent sun-sensitivity
- Suits only normal to dry skin
Would I Repurchase or Recommend?
Ayur Sunscreen Lotion SPF 15 is more of a moisturizer with SPF than a proper sunscreen. I have repurchased it quite a few times and will be making repurchases this product as the day lotion for my dry body skin for the days I stay at home. This is not something you must have in your vanity. I would recommend this product to someone who has normal-to-dry skin and wants a budget-friendly basic lotion with minimal SPF.
