My Experience with Maybelline Peppy Pink Lipstick

Packaging-

This lipstick comes in a matte black bullet packaging with a matte black lid. The packaging is quite similar to Maybelline’s other Colorshow range lipsticks. The packaging is nice and sturdy but sadly I received a faulty one. My lipstick bullet is not strung at the base so there are chances of breaking the bullet from the base if I am not cautious enough at the time of applying it.

Texture & Finish-

The texture of this lipstick is smooth and creamy-matte in the bullet. It glides easily over my lips and gives even finish in each stroke. Once it is applied on the lips it takes 5-10 minutes to settle down in a semi-matte texture. After 45 minutes or so the lipstick will give you completely matte finish. The finish is not too drying like a liquid lipstick but it has its share of dryness. It is better to apply some lip moisturizer beforehand to avoid dry lips.

Fragrance-

This lip color has berry fragrance to it. The fragrance is mild enough and stays for about 1 hour. Berry is one of my favorite fragrance genres so I am enjoying it in my lip color.

Shade-

Peppy Pink- This is a warmly toned fuchsia. The shade is very bright and bold but not a neon one. The shade is really pretty and looks flattering on warm Indian complexions. It works across skin tones and gives a fresh look to the face. The shade is something similar to Lakme’s lip crayon Shocking Pink but brighter.

Pigmentation-

This lip color is tremendously pigmented I must say. This one is the most pigmented shade in my entire lipstick collection. In just one swipe the true color shows on my lips. I have never needed more than 2 swipes. I can confidently say this shade will show on even the most pigmented lips. This one actually tints lips with its pigments. Sometimes I find it really hard to get rid of the stain from my lips.

Staying power-

This is another area in which this lipstick easily beats all my lipsticks. This shade stays intact for over 7-8 hours. It survives drinks easily and just fades in some regions when I take heavy oily meals. If it fades slightly from some places I just need to purse my lips and the lipstick gets evenly distributed again.

Experience-

I really love this lipstick. Actually, I did not expect a 325 bucks product to have such an amazing staying power and finish. The shade in itself is quite awesome. This kind of pink shade is all you need to put together a makeup look. I generally pair it with minimal eye makeup for a fresh look. For a more intense look, I just use 2 eyeshadows; a pearly pink all over the lid and a deeper pink on the crease. Lip colors with an intense color payoff and high staying power often stain lips; this one too leaves stubborn stains on my lips. I have to literally drench my lips in some thick oils to get rid of the tint. Still, I am in love with this shade because of its performance. I have three shades from Maybelline’s Colorshow Bright Mattes range and each one has excellent pigmentation but this one looks exceptionally good on everyone.
