Creamy matte lipsticks are my favorite range of lip products from Maybelline after Baby Lips. This particular range makes some best shades available to us within the stipulated budget. Plus, the shades are quite wearable and have a comfortable finish. Maybelline Colorshow Creamy Matte range is not very new in the Indian market. It came out a few years ago with a handful of shades but after that, the brand had included one after another fabulous new collections in this range. I have tried lipstick shades from all the newer ranges of Creamy Matte but somehow overlooked the original shade range. This time I got the Maybelline Mysterious Mocha Colorshow Creamy Matte Lipcolor.. Let’s have a look at it to see if it is buyable or not!

My Experience with Maybelline Mysterious Mocha Colorshow Creamy Matte Lipcolor
Packaging- This lipstick comes in a matte black plastic retractable packaging. It has an outer plastic seal that mentions the constituent list and some other useful details. The lipstick bullet only contains the shade name and manufacturing date. All the Maybelline Colorshow matte lipsticks are packed in an exactly same manner so it becomes quite difficult to choose the correct shade from my lipstick stack when the outer seal has been broken off. However, the color coding of the shade name sticker helps in making out the shades. Overall it’s a nice and sturdy packaging, easy to travel with; no messy experience for me till now! Until and unless you drop it on a hard surface at least 2 times, it would not break from its base.
Shade- Mysterious Mocha is a cool toned neutral brown shade. The shade has many dimensions. The color that comes out at someone’s lips is dependent on that person’s original lip color greatly. Though the color looks quite a warm brown on my hands, on the lips the shade becomes quite cool toned with a feeble hint of pink hue. The shade matches exactly to my original lip color that is why it becomes quite difficult to make out there is some lip color on my lips! This shade will fare well on light to wheatish Indian complexions. It is good as a workplace wear.
Texture- This lipstick has a very smooth and creamy texture. The shade glides over the lips at very gentle pressure. Its creamy side is more prominent than the matte side so it never sets into a perfect matte finish on my lips. To solve the problem I dab a dry face tissue over it to get rid of the excess moisture. This way the finish becomes entirely matte and the longevity increases too.
Pigmentation- This lipstick has a medium color payoff. I need to swipe it 2-3 times to get an opaque coverage. Those who have darker lips may need an appropriate lip liner underneath for the true color to show.
Fragrance- This lipstick has berry fragrance to it. Being a berry scent lover I just love the smell! The smell is not very strong and fades off once you applied the lip color.
Staying Power- The staying power of this lipstick is 3-4 hours in my case. If I blot the excess moisture, it stays for more or less 5 hours. It fades from the middle part of the lips with meals or drinks. The color transfers unless it has been blotted.
Experience- I am not at all a very experimental person when it comes to lip colors. Though I like both bold and muted lipsticks, the current trend of blue or black hued lips does not attract me that much. A nice red, pink or warm-toned neutral shade will always be my pick. Considering these facts, this cool neutral shade is something new to me. I have medium pigmented lips and this shade is an exact match for my original lip tint. That is why it does not add that brightness factor to my whole face makeup if I am not going heavy on my eyes. However, it has a unique capability of balancing out the smokey eyes with the rest of the facial makeup.
