Every lipstick lover knows that last year, the matte lip trend took the makeup industry by storm, and it seems like the trend is here to stay this year too, with The Body Shop hopping onto the liquid matte lipstick bandwagon.

 

Part of the ‘Jacqueline’s signature line’, The Body Shop launched 12 new liquid lip shades in India earlier this year.

 

This review is the darkest shade in the line, which is a vampy plum shade called Sicily Iris.

My experience with The Body Shop Sicily Iris Matte Lip Liquid Lipstick

 

The lipstick comes in a simple and sturdy plastic container, with a matte black cap and the body of the lipstick showing the pigment of the lip shade. It retails with a plastic covering along with the Jacqueline signature.

Inside, it has a doe foot applicator which ensures clean and precise application; it is well designed and has a stopper which ensures that the wand is clean for every application.

 

The first time I applied it, it smelled and looked like I was applying freshly crushed berries on my lips. It is easy to apply, and being a darker shade has a buildable consistency. One coat is slightly lighter than the color that shows on its tube, and two coats perfectly match the packaging.

 

It has a creamy and soft texture, which reminded me of the NYX soft matte lip creams right off the bat. Due to its velvety texture, it doesn’t dry or irritate your lips like other matte lipsticks, which is a huge plus for me as my lips get chapped very easily. It moisturizes and hydrates your lips while leaving a very subtle and sweet taste.

For me, it has been one of those products which I just knew I would love from the very first moment that I applied it. The color payoff is great, and it doesn’t harm your lips at all.

I applied the lipstick in the afternoon and it stayed on my lips all through the evening, even through dinner after which it got slightly lighter, but it did not bleed at all and I used it without a liner. It just faded a little but stayed in place.

Since it’s creamy, it will transfer a little bit if you touch your lips repeatedly, but otherwise, it’s quite hassle-free to use.

A high-end brand and an amazing product for a price this reasonable? I’d say grab your favorite shade as soon as possible!
