Khadi Activated Bamboo Charcoal Mask

Khadi Activated Bamboo Charcoal Mask: I came across this product at a general store, just sitting there on the counter taunting me to pick it up. I had heard a lot about charcoal masks and read a lot about the benefits of activated charcoal so I decided to give this Khadi Activated Bamboo Charcoal Mask a try, and man wasn’t that a good move!

Now this product has become a regular part of my weekly self-care routine, and here I am to share the good word with you, the citizens of the world.

Khadi Activated Bamboo Charcoal Mask

Price- MRP:  Rs. 250/- for 100gm

My experience with Khadi Activated Bamboo Charcoal Mask

As it happens I was looking for a natural face mask when I stumbled upon this product, and it did not disappoint me on that count. The product delivers what it states on the label, i.e. “it exfoliates away dull skin cells for softness and clarity”, and I saw the results of the face pack after the first use itself. The skin felt softer, firmer, and overall there was a brightness, which just got better after I moisturized it.

My experience with the product was overall pleasant, except for when I used it for the first time, I experienced a slight burning sensation, though it had no physical evidence once I took off the face pack, and afterward it was just smooth sailing.

Packaging- The package is a generally circular container, with a bronze lid and an added off-white colored lid inside it, to prevent spillage.  I would have liked it better had they provided an applicator along with it since the packaging is a container and not a tube. That would have been more convenient.

Texture and color- The face pack is a very light creamy texture, making it a smooth application even if one is just using their finger to do so. The color is grey, almost like the color of the sky before a heavy rain, it lightens up on the skin after it dries. It dries very firmly on the skin, and a rule of thumb, please do not alter your facial expressions as it would line the pack (because it’s not elastic at all once it dries) and you might enhance a fine line or two.

Odour- I personally like the smell of the face pack, which is almost like the smell of mud before the rain (again with the storm reference!)  just a processed version of it, though I would understand if some people may not like it as much.

Overall it is not irritating to the skin, nose or the eyes!!

Application- The package instruction advice you to wash your face and cleanse it. Once that is done you wet your face and neck, and then apply a thin coating of the pack, avoiding the eyes and lips. You let it dry for 15-20 minutes, and then rinse it off with warm water.

My personal routine differs a little. It includes washing my face with warm water to open my pores, then I scrub out the dead skin and dirt, after which I steam my face, pop out the whiteheads, wipe it off and then apply the mask. I wash it off with normal tap water and ice my skin to close my pores, after which I moisturize my skin with coconut or almond oil. I do this all before going to bed so that I can wake up with supple happy skin. I do this once a week.

Johnson’s Baby Cream 1

Johnson’s Baby Cream Review

by Kensiya K

Johnson’s Baby Cream: Show me one person who doesn’t like the smell of Johnson’s baby products and I will show you a person who cannot be trusted. Johnson’s baby products have a signature fragrance to them, which smell like, lying in a meadow with the sun warming your face, and wildflowers all around, and at the same time it somehow manages to not overpower your senses. It doesn’t scream for attention, it slowly just gently lures you towards itself, and take a note ladies, that’s how you should aspire to be.

This is one of the reasons I gave Johnson’s Baby Cream a try. I first used the milk cream, which has been reviewed by  Sone, right here. Then I gave the normal baby cream a try. Read on to know why I am fixated on it now.

Johnson’s Baby Cream 1

Basic Info

It is johnson’s moisturizing cream, for babies, and it claims to provide, 24-hour moisture. It is clinically proven to be mild and preserves skin’s natural softness.

Price- MRP Rs 135/- for 100 gm

My experience with Johnson’s Baby Cream

I was looking around for a good moisturizer, when I just saw it on the shelf of a general store and decided to give it a try, “if it works for babies, it should work for me too, right??” and I was not disappointed. It does provide your skin with much-needed moisture,  in my case, it lasts until I step back home at eight in the evening, I haven’t tested if it works for 24-hours or not. Yet.

Its gentle fragrance is an apt start to a new day and soothes your senses before a day full of chores. It works like a charm for people with really dry skin and comes at a really nominal price. So, if you have spent a good amount of money on moisturizers and still haven’t found ‘the one’ give this a try.

The only thing I would warn you about it would be, the extra shiny look it provides directly after application, dry skinned beauties, wait a minute or two, the cream will get absorbed and leave you with nice glowy skin, though the others out there, buy a small tube, to test out, if whether you like it or not.

Johnson’s claims “We love babies”, and all of us have aspired to be a baby again at some point or another, haven’t we? So try this out, and embrace the inner infant in you. J

Packaging- it comes in an off-white colored tube, making it easy to carry and apply.

Texture and color-

It is a cool smooth cream, and the color of the container is off-white. The cream is not too flashy in texture or appearance.

This is the best thing about the cream. It has the iconic fragrance, unique to all Johnson’s baby products. It smells like rainbows and a fresh creek, and I am in love with it.

Application-  dab ( not DAB! :P) some cream on your face or hand (I use it for both), and apply in circular mouton until the cream is properly absorbed (might take a minute or two).

Johnson’s Baby Cream

  1. Amazing fragrance
  2. Moisturises well
  3. Clinically proven mild.
  4. Dermatologist tested
  5. Conveniently priced
  6. Easy to carry
  7. Works for a long time.
  1. Might not be suitable for oily skin.
  2. The cream takes a little effort to properly absorb (this might be con, just cause I am lazy)
Would I use it again? Would I recommend it?

This is my third tube of this cream, so that speaks for itself, as to recommend it to someone, I would definitely urge you to give it a try if you are looking for a good moisturizer.

Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream 2

Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream Review

by Kensiya K

Who is it for? Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream is for those looking for a moisturizing CC cream.

Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream 2

Price- MRP: Rs. 3270/-

My experience with the Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream

The pictures of my tube of moisture surge cc cream, speaks for itself. This product comes in so handy, just pop it into your bag and you are ready to go. Its hydration formula eliminates the need to smother your face with moisturizer, which every girl with dry skin like me, has to face every day. It is lightweight and has a hint of foundation which helps you look put together and fresh, even after you have slept in for the umpteenth time this month (what can I say, my blanket and I have a passionate affair). It can be used as a stand-alone product on casual days and as a primer, on the days you have enough energy to dress up.

It is available in three shades at nykaa, and I used the medium, which was a little light on my skin. After blending though, the shade felt comfortable but not perfect. A shade darker is also available, called medium deep, next time I’d probably go for that, either way, I wish there were more dark shades.

The cream comes in a very cute cream-colored tube, which makes it very easy to carry and apply the product.

Texture and color-

The texture of the product is very creamy and smooth, which makes it very easy to apply. It is also very weightless, making it very comfortable to have on the skin.

The color varies according to the shade you have.

It is odor free and also as a plus, allergy tested. Sensitive skin, this is in!!!

just dot your face with the product and blend it in using a sponge, brush or fingers. I personally like to use my fingers, as it is easier and also decreases product wastage.

Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream

  1. Hydrating, hence perfect for winters
  2. Allergy tested
  3. Odour free
  4. Lightweight
  5. Has SPF 30
  6. Has dual application as a cc cream and a primer
  7. Easy to apply
  1. The price
  2. Not inclusive of dark shades
Would I buy it again? Would I recommend it?

Given the moment, I would buy it again, but a shade darker :P

If you seek a hydrating cc cream, this is the one!

The Rock Nudes Maybelline Eyeshadow Review

by Kensiya K

There’s something about eyeshadows that is intimidating. It is a totally different ball game as far as makeup is concerned. Eyeshadows require for you to be really confident and embrace yourself. There’s just something raw and edgy about confidently wearing that little amount of pigment and glitter on your eyelids that makes you stand out. My first encounter with eyeshadow was when my best friend forced me to wear it as a part of my farewell look. I was apprehensive, but her artistic hand just made it fit ME. Since then I have been looking for an eyeshadow palette which reflects my individuality and also comes within my price range. This is where The Rock Nudes Maybelline Eyeshadow comes in.

The Rock Nudes Maybelline Eyeshadow

The Rock Nudes Maybelline Eyeshadow 1

It is Maybelline’s eyeshadow palette, with 12 shades, which range from subtle nudes to edgy browns and blues, from matte to shimmery shades.

Price- MRP: Rs. 925/-

Shelf Life- 36 months

My experience with The Rock Nudes Maybelline Eyeshadow

I am a makeup enthusiast, but also an amateur practitioner, so the best thing I like about this product is how Maybelline has provided with a guide at the back, it has really helped me a lot.

The shades are not really well pigmented but that works for me as a beginner because it’s not too much, that I would regret my first miscalculated stroke and not too less, that would have me applying layers of the product before I see the effect. That is my personal opinion, though I think people with more experience might find it to be a little less pigmented according to their liking.

My favorite shade is the shimmery blue one, and for some reason, the white matte one is really satisfying too. Overall it provides some experimental shades and also comes within budget for a beginner.

I also like the fact that it works well for fair and dusky shades.

it comes in a generally rectangular container, with square blocks for the different shades of eyeshadow. I would have liked if there was a mirror on the box.

Texture and color:

the texture is a bit ashy and not as smooth as I would like. The colors are the best part. A wide array of 12 colors are present in this palette. It ranges from subtle hues to hues that enable you to go for a really edgy smokey eye look. Also, the colors range from matte to glittery and glossy.

it doesn’t smell really different, just like odorless talc with a bit of chemical tint.

The Rock Nudes Maybelline Eyeshadow3

  1. Number of colors
  2. Budget-friendly
  3. Beginner friendly
  4. Useful application guide
  5. Range of colors
  6. Matte and glossy colors available
  1. Pigmentation not strong
  2. The texture of the eye shadow is not smooth
  3. The container doesn’t have a mirror.
Would I buy it again? Would I recommend it?

I would prefer buying another palette of the nudes range rather than this again, as for suggesting it, I would suggest it to anyone looking to dive into the eye makeup realm within a budget.

Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Stick Foundation 1

Last year, when Rihanna launched her Fenty collection with a whopping 40 different shades of foundation, she had the world shook. I was scrounging all over the internet, reading blogs and reviews, thinking, “Dang!! RiRi did that!” which was followed by, “Dang!! Its gonna be a long while before my broke self would be able to afford that!”. So I gave up stalking the Fenty collection and looked around for options that would not hurt my pocket.

The thing you need to know is I am a fairly dark skinned girl (pun intended). I have had to go through the horrors of caking my face with a foundation for light-skinned people, all throughout school, for annual days and stage performances, and that had left a deep hatred for the foundation. As I grew up though, I understood the importance of a good base, and I also encountered the lack of foundations in my shade, which forced me to make do with the darkest shades I could find, and they were not much better than the crap I had to put up with at school.

That is when I stumbled upon this beauty, that now I covet, my Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Stick Foundation, shade no. 330- toffee. The joy I felt when I applied it for the first time, and saw it perfectly match with my skin knew no bounds. So here is my review, on this lifesaver, for all you “toffee” girls out there.

Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Stick Foundation

Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Stick Foundation 1

Basic Info About Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Stick Foundation

So this is the darkest shade of the Maybelline’s stick foundation, available on Amazon, and they have many more shades lighter to this too. It is a lightweight stick foundation, with a powder core. The powder core helps absorb excess oil and gives a shine-free, matte finish.

Price-  MRP: Rs 550/- for 9gm

Shelf life– 29 months from date of package

Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Stick Foundation 2

My experience with Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Stick Foundation

My introduction must have made clear how much I covet the Maybelline Fit Me foundation stick, and that is because it did not disappoint when it came down to match with my skin. It glides on my skin like a dream and blends in like a cloud. The powder core really absorbs the oil and gives you a matte finish. The one I have is ideal for combination skin, but they also have variants for normal to oily skin, though I couldn’t find that foundation in cream stick form. The foundation doesn’t place a timeline on how long it would stay, but from experience, I can say that it stays put for a good four hours of dance. One of the downsides that I experienced is that it isn’t one of those foundations which leaves you with a natural glow, because it made my face look really zombie-like until I applied a bit of contour, and it does not offer a lot of blemish coverage with one layer of foundation. I had to use two layers, for a natural-looking coverage. But even with these faults, I am in love with it, because it does not burn a hole in my pocket and goes with my skin perfectly.

The packaging is almost like a generic cylindrical container, and you can just push up the foundation stick by twisting the bottom, like with lipsticks. It’s really a convenient product to travel with, and super convenient to loose too :P

Texture and color-

The texture is really creamy, which makes it really hassle-free to apply. The color depends on the shade you have, with a lighter powder core center.

Odour- it is fragrance-free, has a really neutral odor.

Application- apply it onto your face evenly in downward strokes, along with your nose, cheekbones, chin, and forehead. Blend it then with fingers, brush or sponge.

Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Stick Foundation 3

Final report card of Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Stick Foundation

  1. Perfect shade (this is what tips the scales for me)
  2. Hassle free application
  3. Powder core for matte finish
  4. Creamy texture
  5. Handy container
  6. Travel-friendly

  1. Doesn’t give the best coverage
  2. Makes face look a little ashy

Would I buy it again?

I would buy this product again and again as long as it comes in this shade and does not burn a hole in my pocket, or until I start earning more :P

Final score- 4.2/5
