Parachute Advanced Coconut Serum Oil Post-Wash Hair Nourisher

Who is it for? Parachute Advanced Coconut Serum Oil Post-Wash Hair Nourisher is basically a hair serum which has coconut oil as the main ingredient. It is best for dry and frizzy hair but other hair types can also use in moderation.

Parachute Advanced Coconut Serum Oil Post-Wash Hair Nourisher

Price- Rs.170 for 50ml
How to Use

Take 2-3 pumps of product on the palm and apply to the lengths of the hair avoiding roots. Works best on freshly washed hair.

Sensitive Skin Alert?

No

My Experience with Parachute Advanced Coconut Serum Oil Post-Wash Hair Nourisher

Packaging

This serum comes in a yellow transparent bottle with a spray dispenser. The packaging is sturdy enough with no spillage or wastage issue.

Colour & Texture

It is a colorless liquid. The consistency is similar to light hair oils. The texture is like a dry oil. It gets soaked up immediately after application so there was no greasiness. It reminds me of Livon hair serum.

Fragrance

It has a light coconut oil fragrance that lingers for some hours. I am not a huge fan of lingering coconut fragrance in my hair so I apply this only when I am staying at home. The fragrance is very similar to this brand’s other new launch Coconut Creme Oil Pre-wash Hair Nourisher.

Experience

The packaging does not include ingredient list so there is no way to know what I am putting on my hair. From the feel of it, I can say this product has silicones in it that provides an instant smoothness to the hair and controls frizziness. It also has coconut oil kind of feel so hair looks nourished and shiny. The effect lasts half a day for my crazy frizzes so it becomes very easy to leave it open. Just a word of caution, do not use in excess to avoid awkwardly limp hair!

What do I like about this hair serum?
  1. Works well for extremely dry and frizzy hair
  2. Makes hair easy to detangle
  3. Brings shine and healthy polished look
  4. The effect lasts for a considerable amount of time
  5. The packaging looks good and is quite sturdy
What I dislike about this hair serum?
  1. Performs like Livon hair serum but costs 2 times more
  2. The ingredient list is not given a list so there is no way to know what this product is actually made up of
  3. Coconut oil smell might not be liked by everyone
Would I Repurchase or Recommend?

It is a good hair serum for dry and frizz-prone hair but quantity wise the cost is higher than other serums in the market. So, I might stick to my L’Oreal Total Repair 5 serum for the moment.

My Experience with Shea Moisture Shampoo Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine

This shampoo comes in a tube packaging. The product surprisingly is not thick or gloopy. It isn’t as runny either. A small amount says two dimes worth of shampoo diluted with water is enough for my long hair.

The shampoo lathers well and does not dry my hair or scalp out. In fact, I legit cannot resist touching my hair throughout the day it gets that soft!!The mild shea fragrance stays in my hair for two days!

I have used it both with and without the conditioner. It works well both ways. If you have super brittle and frizzy hair don’t skip the conditioner. If you want volume you may skip it.

I can close my eyes and pick this up on a bad hair day and I just know I will feel great! Damn, it sounds like a sales pitch :P

St.Botanica Biotin & Collagen Volumizing Shampoo

Who is it for? St.Botanica Biotin & Collagen Volumizing Shampoo is for someone who is looking for a sulfate and paraben free volumizing shampoo for fine textured hair making it thicker, fuller and healthier.

Price?

INR 999 for 300ml

How to use?

Rinse hair thoroughly, massage shampoo into your scalp. Lather and leave it on your hair and scalp for a few minutes. For the best results, use St.Botanica hair conditioner after every wash.

St.Botanica Biotin & Collagen Volumizing Shampoo

My experience with St.Botanica Biotin & Collagen Volumizing Shampoo

Packaging :

This shampoo comes in a 300ml royal blue colored leak-proof plastic bottle with a pump dispenser which can be locked and opened by twisting the pump nozzle to the left or rightwards.

Colour and texture :

It is shiny or pearly white in color with a medium/runny consistency.

Fragrance :

This shampoo has a strong lingering fragrance like that of a Jasmin or lavender flower which lasts up to three days.

Experience :

I purchased this shampoo 2 months ago from Amazon (one can get this product online on great discount) as I had fine textured hair which is prone to break easily. This shampoo contains a unique blend of vitamin B7 biotin, natural oils and hydrolyzed collagen which promotes the process of hair thickening and volumizing and biotin helps in hair regrowth.

This shampoo lathers well and is free from harmful chemicals and abundant in essential oils like rosemary, lavender, peppermint and ginger oil. If you have done oil massage before the hair wash you will need to wash your hair twice or thrice depending on your hair.

This shampoo, however, leaves the hair dry and sticky initially and shows no result, but after good use of it for about a month one can feel the hair gaining its volume. One has to make sure using the same conditioner along with the shampoo.

This shampoo has worked satisfactorily for my hair but it took a lot of patience out of me to feel the results.

Pros :

  1. Sulfate and paraben free.
  2. Contains natural oils.
  3. Adds volume to fine hair.
  4. Great lingering fragrance.
  5. Avoids hair breakage.

Cons :

  1. Dries out hair.
  2. Doesn’t clean the hair very efficiently.
  3. Takes time to show the results.
  4. The large bottled packaging make it less travel-friendly.
  5. Not easily available in local supermarkets
  6. Not a value for money kind of product.

Will I recommend it?

Not really, this product does not gives instant or for that matter good/ excellent result. I would not suggest a purchase/ repurchase of this shampoo.

Emami 7 Oil in One Damage Control Hair Oil

Who is it for? Emami 7 Oil in One Damage Control Hair Oil is a non-sticky nourishing hair oil for all hair types. It contains oils of Jojoba, Argan, Amla, Walnut, Coconut, Almond and Olive.

Price-

Sensitive Skin Alert?

Emami 7 Oil in One Damage Control Hair Oil

My Experience with Emami 7 Oil in One Damage Control Hair Oil

Packaging

This oil comes in a transparent plastic bottle with a golden click-shut cap. The packaging is sturdy and travel-friendly. The desired amount of oil comes out when the bottle is tilted so no wastage of product plus complete ingredient list is provided.

Colour & Texture

It is a colorless oil of thin consistency. Oil spreads easily when massaged and does not feel very heavy on the hair. The consistency is very similar to Parachute Jasmine hair oil.

Fragrance

It has a moderate to strong artificial fragrance. If you have ever used Boroplus body lotion, you will easily identify the similarities. The fragrance stays for about 2-3 hours of application and the goes away.

Ease of Application

This is just a regular hair oil that you can apply with your fingers and then massage into the scalp and hair ends.

Effectiveness

This is a non-sticky hair oil so it doesn’t give that heavy feel like natural oils like coconut or olive oil do. It can be applied before or after hair wash due to its thin texture. Though I only use it before hair wash. After shampoo, my rough and frizzy hair feels softer and more manageable.

My Experience

I had high expectations from this oil since it says it has 7 natural oils. But in reality, it is just another mineral oil based hair oil where the natural oils are present in astonishingly low amount. I use it as my pre-shampoo hair nourishment. I apply it in the night before hair wash. After hair wash, the hair feels nice and manageable. But, this kind of performance is common with any other hair oils and my good old coconut oil.

Overall Performance of Emami 7 Oil in One Damage Control Hair Oil

Pros:
  1. Light-weight hair oil for daily use
  2. Makes hair soft and manageable
  3. Did not cause hair fall
  4. Easily available and pocket-friendly
Cons:
  1. Mineral oil based hair oil
  2. Natural oils present in very low amount
  3. Smell is a bit overpowering for my liking

Would I Repurchase or Recommend?

This is just a basic hair oil based on mineral oil with strong smell. So, this is not a must have for me and I am not planning to buy it again. Hair n care fruit oil and Parachute Jasmine are two better options if you are looking for a  non-sticky hair oil rather than this.

Ogx Argan Oil of Morocco Conditioner Review

How does coloring your hair damage your hair?

Hair colors consist of ammonia which causes a lot of damage to your hair. The ammonia lifts the cuticle, altering the hair in a way that will never completely revert back to its natural virgin state. Hair that grows from the scalp will grow out normally with only the hair that has been dyed being affected. If not maintained properly, the dyed parts of your hair will become very frizzy, dry, and lifeless.

Does that mean you shouldn’t color your hair?

No, the color does cause damage to your hair but it can be prevented by using some good products and taking care of the colored parts of your hair. Stick to a routine that suits your hair the best. Which is using the right shampoo, conditioner, hair mask or hair oil specifically made for color-treated hair because using normal products is going to cause loss of color.

So here we go  :

Matrix Biolage Color Last Shampoo & Conditioner:

  1. This product is inspired by nature’s fade-defying orchids.
  2. This conditioner claims to provide deep conditioning to the hair; leaving it soft, supple, and lustrous and adding shine.
  3. It helps in lasting your hair color for a longer time.
  4. It is not suitable for extremely dry and frizzy hair. It is a good product for normal to a little oily hair.
  5. This conditioner is paraben free but does contain sulfates.
  6. The product retails for ₹315 for 98ml.

Matrix Biolage ColorLast Orchid Conditioner Review

L’Oreal Paris Colour Protect Conditioner

  1. This is one of the cheapest color care conditioners available in the market. If you are looking for a budget-friendly conditioner, you should go for this one.
  2. The product claims to protect the hair color from UV filter, nourishes hair fiber and makes hair smooth and silky.
  3. It is not the best one out of all the other options available in the market but if you have a tight budget, you can go for this particular product.
  4. The product retails for ₹85 for 71.5ml of product.

Which are the Best Conditioners for Coloured Hair in India?

Streax Professional Argan Secret Color Protect Conditioner

  1. The brand claims: It is specially formulated for color-treated hair; it repairs and restores damage caused by chemical treatments to give you healthier and stronger-looking hair.
  2. It is enriched with Argan oil and UV filters.
  3. It detangles your hair, nourishes your hair, and makes it look vibrant.
  4. It not only protects hair but also keeps them soft and lustrous.

The product retails for ₹275 for 250ml.

Which are the Best Conditioners for Coloured Hair in India?

Schwarzkopf Gliss Hair Repair with Liquid Keratin Color Protect & Shine Conditioner

  1. Brand claims: The product has a breakthrough formula with 3D-COLOR-LUMINANCE that strengthens the hair and seals the hair’s cuticle by which your hair color lasts longer. It provides UV filter protection which helps in retaining shine, and vibrancy and repairs stressed hair. The Keratin deeply repairs stressed hair structures that can be damaged in the coloring process.
  2. The color lasts for up to 12 weeks with the usage of this conditioner.
  3. It is best suited for dry and dull hair to normal hair types. It is not the best conditioner for extremely dry hair.

The product retails for ₹299 for 200ml.

Schwarzkopf Gliss Ultimate Color Express Repair Conditioner

OGX Moroccan Argan Oil Conditioner

  1. This product might not be very budget friendly but it is one of the best brands available in the market.
  2. They don’t claim to protect hair color but every salon I have been to recommends me to use this for my color-treated hair.
  3. It does an amazing job in repairing your hair and making them look healthy, while it doesn’t even fade away the color.
  4. If you have a higher budget, I would recommend you to not go for any other product (All hair needs are different, it might not work for you but it is worth a try).

The product retails for ₹295 for 88.7ml.

Ogx Argan Oil of Morocco Conditioner Review

Wella Professionals INVIGO Color Brilliance Conditioner

  1. This is another product that is not really on the budget-friendly side but it does a really good job.
  2. The brand claims: It is designed for fine to normal damaged hair that lacks luster and for adding a touch of vibrant luster to the hair.
  3. It consists of copper, histidine, vitamin E, and lime caviar to maintain color vibrancy and protect colored hair.
  4. The packaging of the product is very cute.
  5. It makes your hair soft, shiny, and frizz-free.

The product retails for ₹700 for 200ml.

The bushy perm

Hair has long-held cultural, historical, and personal significance. From Samson’s strength in biblical tales to modern-day hair transformations after pivotal life moments, the strands on our heads are more than just about aesthetics. In the journey of self-discovery, self-healing, and wellness, haircare can serve as a potent therapeutic tool. Embracing haircare as a form of therapy is not only transformative for our locks but also for our minds and souls.

The Intimate Connection: Hair, Self-worth, and Confidence

For many, hair is a direct reflection of self-worth and confidence. Think of those days when a “bad hair day” spiraled into self-doubt. On the flip side, the empowering feeling of stepping out of a salon with freshly styled hair can’t be understated. Brands like Olaplex, with products such as the Olaplex Bond Maintenance System, understand this intricate connection and develop products that aim at restoring hair health, thereby indirectly fostering a sense of self-assuredness and well-being.

Haircare as a Meditative Practice

  • Mindful Washing: Instead of rushing through the process, consider washing your hair as a ritual. Feel the texture, the temperature of the water, and the fragrance of the shampoo. This mindfulness can transform a mundane task into a moment of grounding and connection.
  • Scalp Massages: A gentle scalp massage not only promotes hair growth but also relieves tension and stress. By using aromatic oils, you can elevate this experience, making it both relaxing and nourishing.
  • Hair Mask Meditation: While a nourishing hair mask works its magic, take a few moments to meditate. Close your eyes, focus on your breathing, and visualize your hair absorbing all the goodness.

Embracing Change and Letting Go

Hair provides a unique canvas to manifest physical changes reflective of our internal shifts:

  • Chopping It Off A significant haircut after a significant life event, like a breakup or a personal achievement, can be cathartic. It’s symbolic of shedding old parts of ourselves and embracing the new.
  • Color Transformations: Coloring our hair can be seen as an act of self-expression, creativity, and even rebellion. It’s an external declaration of an internal shift.
  • Natural Hair Journey: Embracing natural hair, especially for those who’ve relied on chemical treatments, is a profound journey of self-acceptance and self-love.

Integrating Haircare into Wellness Routines

  • Journaling: Consider maintaining a hair journal. Document the products you use, changes you notice, and how you feel about your hair over time. This can be an insightful way to track not just hair health, but emotional states.
  • Affirmations: As you style or brush your hair, repeat affirmations like “I am beautiful,” “I love and accept myself,” or “My hair is a reflection of my unique essence.” Over time, these affirmations can reshape self-perceptions and boost confidence.
  • Holistic Haircare: Integrating practices like yoga or consuming a balanced diet ensures hair health from the inside out. Remember, hair reflects our overall health and a holistic approach to wellness benefits both our mane and our mind.

Get Straight Hair without Using Heat

Creating a Safe Space with Haircare

A significant part of therapy is creating a safe space for self-expression and healing. For many, especially those with traumatic experiences related to appearance or self-worth, haircare can provide that sanctuary. Whether it’s the act of detangling, deep conditioning, or simply admiring our hair’s natural texture and beauty, these moments allow for self-reflection, acceptance, and healing.

Haircare for Community and Connection

Sharing haircare tips, products, or routines creates a sense of community. These shared experiences can foster connections, build friendships, and provide support systems. Whether it’s through online forums, haircare workshops, or simple heart-to-hearts with friends, discussing hair can be both bonding and therapeutic.

The Transformative Power of Haircare

At the intersection of self-care, wellness, and beauty lies haircare therapy. It’s not just about achieving the perfect shine or volume but about understanding and embracing oneself. Whether it’s through mindful practices, symbolic hair transformations, or simply by using products that nurture our hair like the Olaplex Bond Maintenance System, we can harness haircare as a powerful tool for self-healing. So, the next time you’re combing, styling, or washing your hair, remember: it’s more than just a routine. It’s an act of self-love.

Parachute Coconut Oil

Parachute Coconut Oil Review

by Varsha Alan

Who is it for? Parachute Coconut Oil is the right choice for that looking for a good quality oil that provides nutrition for hair and skin.

Price

500ml for Rs.199

Sensitivity Skin Alert

No.

Parachute Coconut Oil

My Experience with Parachute Coconut Oil

Colour and Texture

The oil is transparent with a smooth texture. It is not very thick and smells of pure coconuts.

Packaging

The liquid comes in a Persian blue plastic bottle with a pointed tip. The tip is tightly sealed to avoid leakage. The packing is not great but it is good.

My Experience

Living in a hot place taught me that heat can cause a number of problems to the body. The sun has caused my hair volume to decrease and affect my skin. Parachute’s coconut oil is 100% pure made from the finest coconuts. I used this coconut oil in various hair mask recipes in hopes that my hair fall would decrease and it sure did. Parachute did not only decrease my hair fall but it also made my skin smooth.

Coconut oil contains Vitamin E and other healthy fats which make the skin nourished and it also contains properties to save dry skin and relax your body.

How to use

Method 1

  1. Take a generous amount of oil and rub them on your palms
  2. Widen the gap between your fingers to cover a large portion of the head
  3. Slowly massage your scalp with the oil. Take more if needed

Note- Apply slowly to avoid straining your hair roots.

  1. Apply the oil from the root to the tip of your hair to cover the split ends
  2. Let your hair sit for at least an hour
  3. Wash your hair gently with shampoo and lukewarm water

Note- Hot water may increase hair loss.

Method 2

  1. Pour some Parachute oil into a cup and heat it mildly
  2. Apply the oil generously on your scalp and the tips
  3. Let your hair sit for an hour before being washed, preferably in cool water

For best results, follow any of the methods thrice a week.

Suggestion– I’d suggest to oil the hair and leave it overnight for quicker results.

Merits
  1. Promotes hair growth
  2. Conditions your hair
  3. Controls hair loss
  4. Helps dry skin
  5. Smoothens the skin.
  6. Both men and woman can use it
  7. Reduces body heat
  8. The oil is edible
Demerits
  1. Makes your hand feel oily
  2. Makes the hair look oily and sticky
  3. Consumption of excess oil leads to diarrhea
  4. Hair will feel damp if not washed properly
  5. Carrying the bottle is not travel-friendly

Recommendation

I will definitely recommend this product.

Wella Boost Bounce Curl Enhancing Mousse

Who is it for? Wella Boost Bounce Curl Enhancing Mousse Is for all those curly hair bearers!! Having curly hair is a boon and a bane in disguise! Worry not this amazing product will help to maintain beautiful bouncy curls adding shine and definition!!

Price

675 for 300ml

How to use?
  1. Dispense 1-2 pumps on your palms and rub them together
  2. Apply gently and liberally over damp hair starting from the top to the tip avoiding the scalp

Wella Boost Bounce Curl Enhancing Mousse

My experience with Wella boost bounce curl enhancing mousse

Packaging

It has a sturdy packaging with a stiff cap that doesn’t allow leakage of any kind. But since it is a pressurized container it is highly flammable if not careful!

Colour and texture

It is white in color and very light in texture. It is nonsticky on palms.

Fragrance

It doesn’t have any strong smell that one can’t bear. It is likely pleasant and gives a touch of fragrance that lingers smoothly for an entire day.

Experience

I had ordered this product 2 -3 months back from nykaa. I am a person who loves curly hair. I have a semi-curly wavy hair texture and it was likely to get a lot frizzy in this hot humid climate condition, in spite of all the conditioners I used I still needed something more. I found this one day and I brought this immediately. This has a hold level 2. I wouldn’t tell that it makes your hair smooth because it doesn’t!

After 2 uses it makes hair stiff and crisp. But I guess it is necessary to hold the curls.

Pros
  1. Easy to use
  2. The light textured product spreads evenly on hair lengths
  3. Less goes for a longer time
  4. Holds curls to a moderate level
  5. Can be used on wavy hair to enhance the bounce
Cons
  1. Makes hair crisp.
  2. Cannot comb through as hair becomes quite stiff.
  3. Ingredients not perfectly mentioned
  4. Contains methylparaben

Will I recommend this product?

I will most likely recommend this product. If not for daily use then it is an amazing deal for a salon free bouncy curly hair on occasions. Either way it comes off after a wash so it doesn’t harm as much

Godrej Professional Protect Shine Serum Jojoba Oil

What is it? Godrej Professional Protect Shine Serum Jojoba Oil is a serum which is used to make your hair smooth, lustrous and shiny. The product is made out of jojoba oil. This product is specially created for Indian hair.

Price:

This product retails for ₹300 for 120g of product.

How to apply:
  1. Pump out a coin size amount of the serum in to your palms.
  2. Warm it up by rubbing the serum between both your hands.
  3. Gently brush your hair with your hands, applying it evenly on your hair, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends of your hair.

Godrej Professional Protect Shine Serum Jojoba Oil

My experience with the Godrej Professional Protect Shine Serum Jojoba Oil

Formulation:

The serum has a transparent liquid consistency. It is very thin and flowy.

Packaging:

The product comes in a transparent plastic bottle. It has a pump dispenser. It doesn’t come in a cardboard box packaging. The name of the product and the details of the product are written on a blue label.

Smell:

It has a very nice, mild fruity smell to it but the smell doesn’t stay on your hair for long.

My experience:

The product does what it claims. It gives a shine to your hair. It doesn’t add a lot of moisture or control the frizz, which they do not claim anyway. The serum can be used on a daily basis.

Pros:
  1. It doesn’t make your hair greasy or sticky.
  2. It can be used on colored hair.
  3. It is not heavy on your hair.
  4. It adds a shine to the hair and makes the hair smooth.
  5. It has a mild smell, which is not overpowering.
  6. It can be used on all hair types.
  7. It does not leak.
  8. It is travel-friendly.
Cons:
  1. It doesn’t make the hair frizz free.
  2. It doesn’t add any moisture to the hair.

Would I repurchase and recommend?

Yes, people who are searching for a serum that purely just adds shine to the hair can go for this product.
