Colourpop needs no introduction for their awesomeness. Even though the matte lipstick game is still on, they are very drying on the lips. Colourpop has 3 different formulas and satin is my favorite out of all, not only for me but for many of those who have tried. This review is about Colourpop ultra satin lipstick in the shade calypso.
Basic Info about the Colourpop Ultra Satin Lipstick Calypso
The package doesn’t carry any information as such but they claimed to give full flush color with their non-drying formula. Colourpop was born, raised and made with love in the city of Angels. We test our products in every possible without affecting the animals. Trends come and go, so it’s super important to us that you can keep up with this ever-changing industry without breaking the bank.
The packaging of the ultra satin lipstick is same as the ultra matte ones. They are priced for $6.
My Experience with Colourpop Ultra Satin Lipstick Calypso
Summers are already there and oranges and peaches are some of my go-to shades for this season. So, I had to pick this shade. Even though I prefer matte lipsticks most of the time, they are very drying on the lips and during summers, drying is something that needs no explanation. The product comes in a plastic transparent tube with a silver screw cap which has a wand attached. It comes with a doe foot applicator which works great for precise application. Even if you have thin lips, you are going to love these.
These satin formula lipsticks are so comfortable on the lips and it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy at all. They don’t set into matte but when worn for a long time, the gloss vanishes and makes it feel matte. The lipsticks are quite pigmented and these formulas do have so many color variants.
As like the ultra matte lipsticks, they don’t dry matte, so they tend to smear all over after application if you rub your lips accidently. They transfer a lot but still the lipstick is highly pigmented, so the lipstick doesn’t fade away completely. It leaves decent amount pigmentation on the lips. Using a lip liner is always recommended under these lipsticks.
Overall Performance of Colourpop Ultra Satin Lipstick Calypso
This shade is described as mid-tone pink by the website. But the lipstick has a hint of peach in it as well. The lipstick looks amazing on people with fair to medium skin tone. I belong to the group of people with medium to duskier skin and I have pigmented lips. This shade looks little pale on me but I’m ok with it. But for people with a tone or two deeper than me, this shade will wash out. This shade is an everyday kind of shade and looks very flattering with any kind of makeup and outfit.
These lipsticks have a good staying time of about 7 to 8 hours and it does fade little over a meal and over a greasy meal it will fade away more.
These lipsticks feel very smooth and have a mousse texture (I personally feel) and I love these lipsticks for their formula. One of the best formulas I have ever tried. As I said, when these lipsticks are worn for a long time, the shine of the lipstick fades. I personally felt that these lipsticks have a bit of oil in this range which actually gives that smooth texture. They do not sit on fine lines or emphasise the lines much like the ultra-mattes.
These lipsticks are very easy to remove, compared to the ultra matte one which actually feels like killing your lips at times while removing.
Would I Repurchase Or Recommend?
Yes! This shade is very amazing and I will highly recommend for people with fair to medium skin tone to try this one.
