Happy day gorgeous ladies 🙂
As you must have guessed by now…I am an irreversible lipstick lover. I love checking out, trying on, buying or simply browsing through lipsticks. I often pick up lipsticks that seem interesting from my friends and relatives collections and try them out for fun. Today’s review is about one such rendezvous with a rather unusual purple shade the MAC Heroine Matte Lipstick.
Let’s see how it fared…

You would obviously know this…Mac’s matte line is pretty famous. These lipsticks are rich in pigment with great color payoff. There is no shine and a completely matte finish.
All Mac lipsticks are great quality and the matte line has especially earned great reviews. I think when you think of an iconic product from the Mac family, it has to be lipsticks and kajal.
My Experience with MAC Heroine Lipstick
The Mac lipsticks mostly have homogenous packaging. This one too is encased in a black fiber body with silver Mac lettering. Like all Mac lipsticks, this one has sturdy travel-friendly packaging and is easy to use.
I have dry lips and the lipstick felt smooth on the very first application. I didn’t use lip balm as a base just to check out exactly how moisturized the lipstick is…well though is a matte shade it’s not drying and glides on the lips beautifully. The color stayed on for 5 hours straight and it lasted way past my mini meals and diet coke sessions.
The color is purple with blue undertones…you will get full coverage in one strong stroke. Opaque color can be attained on one application and the color is very striking, to say the least. Mac Heroine…is truly meant for heroines I guess…it’s bold, in your face and sometimes a little too much!!
Overall Performance of MAC Heroine Lipstick
The USP of this lipstick is its strong bold color that doesn’t even require a second application to catch the eye. This is a shade which will turn heads and attract attention. This can work both as a dramatic day shade and a good nightwear shade. If you pair it with subtle Smokey eyes it can look wonderful…just keep the rest of the makeup low key. I tried it out at a friend’s place and was a little skeptical about the results.
I guess this color would look better on women with blue undertones…I have yellow undertones on my skin and somehow felt that the color and I were not doing each other justice. Also, I am more of a pink…red…peach kind of girl and a dramatic purple takes me out of my comfort zone 🙂
Would I recommend?
Yes, why not…I would urge all you bold beauties to give this purple shade a try. This is a great quality lipstick which just happened to not suit my skin tone and confidence level. I am a little skeptical about its effect on olive or yellow skin but women with cooler skin can carry this off beautifully. It’s great for making a statement and standing apart from the crowd!! Go for it if you love bold colors and don’t mind the hefty Mac price tag.
