My Experience with Maybelline Velvet Matte Lipstick Mat 6
This lip color comes in a small rectangular fiber glass tube with a black lid and an applicator inside. The quantity is kind of less according to me but the good thing is it doesn’t run out as soon as we would expect it to. The color hot wine mat 6 shade is just amazing!! It looks darker in the swatches than on the lips but it’s a very pretty shade. The texture isn’t exactly matte as they claim. It does give a matte finish but it doesn’t dry out your lips either. Unlike some matte lip colors, you can easily remove it with the help of tissue paper. The texture is creamy and transfers on the items you touch with your lips. The pigmentation is amazing. It can last as long as 5 to 6 hours without the need of reapplication if you don’t eat anything. It’s nonsticky and keeps your lips hydrated for a long time on the plus side.
Overall Performance
The pros of the lip color are that it has an amazing pink color, it doesn’t dry out your lips, it is highly pigmented, nonsticky and of course affordable. If not matte finish, it definitely gives a satiny finish. One the other hand it doesn’t last as long as the traditional matte lip colors and starts fading after some time. I couldn’t eat or drink anything without transferring a bit of color on the spoon or glass and hence needed frequent reapplication. Just like any other product, it has its ups and downs but it was worth trying.
Would I recommend?
Yes! Definitely! Although the name matte is a bit misleading but still overall it’s a good product. I won’t recommend this for occasions that require you to eat or drink but if you don’t mind reapplication you can surely go ahead. The removal too is very easy and hassle free. Your lips will love the soft moisturizing feel of it and you can smile as much as you want without your lip color cracking.
