Papaya Benefits for Skin & Hair

Some of the benefits include:

Skin

  • Help in wrinkle reduction

Some studies claim that the presence of Retin – A in papaya helps in reducing the signs of aging. Regular consumption and proper application of papaya on the skin can help in removing dead cells from the top of skin thereby making wrinkles and age spots less visible.

  • Offers you even skin tone

Papaya due to its skin lightening properties works great at rescuing you from skin pigmentation. Beta – carotene enzymes and phytochemicals help in clearing blemishes and reducing pigmentation. An enzyme like papain with alpha – hydroxy acid exfoliates the skin by dissolving dead tissue and inactive proteins.

Hair

  • Speeds up hair growth

This is the much lesser known benefit of papaya regarding hair health. The presence of folic acid in papaya improves the blood circulation in scalp and hair follicles thereby promoting hair growth.

Health

  • Can prevent arthritis

Along with other nutrients, Papaya is also rich in vitamin C. Some studies have shown that individuals consuming less vitamin C are 3 times more prone to developing arthritis than those who take sufficient amount of vitamin C in their diet.

  • Help in easing menstrual pain

Women having irregular and painful periods are often recommended to incorporate papaya in their diet. This is because of enzyme papain which helps in normalizing the menstruation by stimulating the production of the hormone estrogen in the body.

  • Good for your pregnancy

Papaya, when taken in low to moderate quantity, helps in relieving acidity, curing constipation and heartburn during pregnancy. This all happens due to the high content of vitamin E, vitamin C, and folate in papaya.

  • Good for your eyes

Papaya is a rich source of vitamin A which supports good vision and prevent macular degeneration of the eye.
