Fabindia Neem Tulsi Mud Pack Review

Price-

Rs. 350 for 100ml

How to use-

Apply directly on face and wash off once dry.

My experience with the Fabindia Neem Tulsi Mud Pack

I loved the idea of a face pack and decided to try this one because it sounds like a great pack for oily skin. I applied it on my face and simply washed it off once it had dried. I tried it a few times and found that it gets rid of excess oil and gives my face a glow. The glow doesn’t last very long, but there is a pleasant lingering smell.

Positives
  1. Easy to use
  2. Nice smell
  3. Gives a clean feeling, like an astringent effect
Negatives
  1. It is not ideal for people with dry skin

Rimmel the Only 1 One of a Kind Lipstick 810 Review 5

The first time I used it, was for a Christmas party where I got some compliments for the glossy coat. It was the perfect colour for my wine red and black dress. The all-in-one signifies long-lasting colour with moisture content; and Only 1 gives good results. Any lipstick is bound to fade after you eat and drink, but this one truly stays long and gives a moisturized look and feel. It’s a great colour for an evening out that suits the fair as well as the dusky.

Rimmel the Only 1 One of a Kind Lipstick 810 Review 4

Positives
  1. Good staying power
  2. It glides easily because it’s moisture rich
  3. 20 shades to choose from
  4. Great finish
  5. The slanted bullet enables effortless application
Negatives
  1. The smell could be better
  2. The moisturized look fades after a few hours
  3. It’s expensive
Overall would I repurchase and recommend?

I would stick to the less expensive options for daily use. For those who don’t mind spending a bit more on lipsticks, it’s a great one that comes in lovely bold shades and delivers what it promises.

Iraya Japakusum Taila Review

Iraya Japakusum Taila Review

by Aneesha Bhadri

What is it and who is it for? The Iraya Japakusum Taila is Ayurvedic hair oil made of hibiscus, bhringraj and other herbs in a blend of coconut and sesame oils.

Iraya Japakusum Taila Review

Price-

Rs. 200 for 100ml

Sensitive skin alert?

No

How to use-

Massage it onto scalp.

My experience with the Iraya Japakusum Taila –

I am a conditioner and serum gal, but occasionally, I like to indulge in some natural therapy. At such times, I massage my scalp with oil and wash it off after a few hours. After reading about the benefits of cold pressed oils, I decided to give the Japakusum Taila a try. After the first application, I noticed that my hair was quite soft and shiny. Also, I did not experience the kind of hair fall I do when I use ordinary processed oils. Japakusum Taila has a rather unpleasant odour, but I was impressed by its effectiveness. My hair was super soft and more manageable.

Iraya Japakusum Taila Review 2

Positives
  1. Softens the hair
  2. Gives it a shine
  3. Reduces hair fall
Negatives
  1. Bad smell
Overall would I repurchase and recommend?

The smell puts me off, but I trust the efficacy of the oil. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn’t mind the odour and it definitely does not smell as bad as a raw egg hair mask ;)

The Body Shop Strawberry Body Mist Review

The Body Shop Strawberry Body Mist Review

by Aneesha Bhadri

What is it and who is it for? The Body Shop Strawberry Body Mist is a body mist containing strawberry extract.

The Body Shop Strawberry Body Mist Review

Price-

Rs. 795 for 100ml

How to use-

Just spray it on yourself.

My experience with the Body Shop Strawberry Body Mist –

Body mist is somehow a very enticing thing.  It’s light on the skin and can generally be sprayed all over the body. There is such a variety out there, you can choose whichever fragrance you like. The strawberry mist may sound too sweet and boring, but hold on…you would be surprised by the light sweet summery scent. It stays on for a while, though obviously not as long as perfume. It’s a body mist that holds its own.

Positives
  1. Light sweet fragrance
  2. Nice packaging
  3. Decent staying power
Negatives
  • Fades after a while, but most body mists do
  • Little expensive
Overall would I repurchase and recommend?

It’s a great summer scent so I would recommend it for the coming season ;)

St Ives Even and Bright Pink Lemon and Mandarin Orange Facial Scrub Review

Who is it for? St Ives Even and Bright Scrub Pink Lemon and Mandarin Orange is for those looking for a brightening face scrub and even skin tone.

St Ives Even and Bright Pink Lemon and Mandarin Orange Facial Scrub Review

Price-

$4.99 for 150 ml

How to use-

Moisten face with water and massage scrub over face. Rinse off.

My experience with the St Ives Even and Bright Scrub Pink Lemon and Mandarin Orange

I have tried a few Apricot scrubs, but did not find them very effective. The St Ives Even and Bright Pink Lemon and Mandarin Orange Facial Scrub, on the other hand, is a great exfoliator. It has a finer grain, unlike most scrubs, that ensures your skin is evenly and thoroughly cleansed.

It has a light fruity smell that is quite refreshing. They recommend that you use it 3 to 4 times a week, but I find that twice a week is good enough. After using it, my face has a clean and bright look.

St Ives Even and Bright Pink Lemon and Mandarin Orange Facial Scrub Review 4

Positives
  1. effective exfoliator
  2. has a finer grain
  3. natural ingredients
  4. lovely smell
  5. brightens the face
Negatives
  1. not easily available
  2. dries out the skin a bit in winter, so follow up with a moisturizer
Overall would I repurchase and recommend?

If you already have a facial scrub you love, you can stick to it. If you are up for trying a new one, this is the best scrub I have used so far, so I would certainly recommend it.

Marks and Spencer’s Lavender Twin Rack Duo Floral Collection Review

I really like the idea of a hand wash and lotion set next to the wash basin. You just wash your hands and apply some lotion to keep them soft and fragrant. It’s a handy pack to look after one of the most used parts of the body, your hands. Last month, I was staying over at my grandparent’s place for a week, where I was introduced to the Marks and Spencer Hampers: Floral Collection Lavender and I was very pleased.

I derived giddy pleasure from rubbing the lotion onto my hands after using the hand wash. It has a lovely lavender scent that lingers on the skin. The hand wash lathers well and leaves a scent of its own. The lotion softens the skin and stays for several hours. Kerastase Specifique Bain Stimuliste Shampoo Review 4

For the past couple of years, I was growing increasingly concerned about my hair loss problem. It was getting to a stage where I actually thought I might have to start wearing a wig. It’s quite troubling for anyone, but it’s especially traumatic for a girl. When I was recommended this shampoo, I never thought it would actually work, but it did.

I would never suggest depending entirely on this. You need to improve your diet, drink plenty of water, take nutritional supplements and de-stress. However, for an all-rounded approach, you must use this shampoo. I noticed a change in my hair within a week. The hair fall had reduced and my hair appeared visibly thicker. I was pleasantly surprised and intensely grateful for a shampoo that does what it says.

Iraya Wildflower Body Lotion Review

Iraya Wildflower Body Lotion Review

by Aneesha Bhadri

I am following up my face cream reviews with a review of a body lotion that I bought a few weeks ago. One tends to forget that the rest of the body needs as much pampering as the face. Recently, I decided to switch to natural products and ordered the Iraya Wildflower Body Lotion, by an ayurvedic brand.

Iraya Wildflower Body Lotion Review

Apply all over the body after bath.

My experience with the Iraya Wildflower Body Lotion –

Iraya Wildflower Body Lotion Review 5

I apply the wildflower body lotion daily and find it as good as any other body lotion. It has a pleasant floral smell that fades after a couple of hours. I have noticed that you need to use quite a bit for the effect to last the whole day. I suppose it’s good for summer.

I feel this is a pretty average product. In fact, it is not a great moisturizer after all. A lightweight lotion that smells nice enough, but the fragrance does not linger for long.

I don’t see the point in spending this much money on something that quite frankly I can get with brands like Nivea and Vaseline too.

Iraya Wildflower Body Lotion Review 4

Positives of the Iraya Wildflower Body Lotion –

  • Moisturizes the skin
  • Has a nice floral smell
  • Easy to use

Negatives of the Iraya Wildflower Body Lotion –

  • Does not brighten the complexion as claimed
  • It is too light for people with dry skin unless you use a lot
  • Not value for money

Overall would I repurchase and recommend?

I would not buy this product again. It serves to moisturize the skin as well as any decent moisturizer, so there is nothing exceptional about it. I would not recommend it to people with dry skin, even though that is how the product is advertised. To put it simply, there are better moisturizers out there or equally good ones at lesser the price.

My experience with the Himalaya Revitalizing Night Cream

I inhale the fragrance as I massage my face. A pea-sized amount is enough to nourish the skin. I apply it after washing my face and it lasts the whole night and the next day if you don’t wash your face :p It keeps the skin soft and supple. It provides such nourishing relief to parched skin that your soothed skin will weep with joy.

I found it most useful when I went for a winter trek to the Himalayas, where the climate is extremely cold and dry.

Himalaya Revitalizing Night Cream Review 3

Positives of the Himalaya Revitalizing Night Cream

  • Moisturizes and softens the skin

Fabindia Vitamin E Skin Hydrating Cream For Oily Skin Review

Having done a review of Iraya’s face cream which is rich, heavy and suited for winter, I thought it a good idea to do one of a super light cream that is excellent for summer. As I have mentioned before, it is hard to find a good cream for people who have oily skin. For me, the search stops here. The Fabindia skin hydrating vitamin E cream has a variant specifically for people with oily skin.

Smooth all over face as and when required.

My experience with the Fabindia Vitamin E Skin Hydrating Cream For Oily Skin

I was happy to see a face cream specifically for oily skin and decided to give it a try. Usually, creams are heavy and wreak havoc with oily skin, but this one is an exception. It is super light and it has a very pleasant and clean smell.  I apply it any time of the day when my face feels a little dry. It soothes the skin and nourishes without clogging the pores.

I probably sound like I am going on and on about how it’s a great cream for oily skin, but there is a reason I am gushing. It is hard to find a face cream that is effective enough to moisturize the skin and at the same time, light enough to balance out the natural oil released by our sebaceous glands. For me, this cream fits the bill.
