Essence XXXL Longlasting Lip Gloss 07 Silky Red : Essence is a popular Italian makeup brand that makes some of the best makeup goodies in the affordable range. Even since Essence products became available on Nykaa I was super excited. But then the shade selections came in the way and I stepped backward. Though the products are awesome the choices for yellow toned medium skin tones are very selective. But finally, I have zeroed upon Essence XXXL Longlasting Lip Gloss 07 Silky Red which I am reviewing today. Here is what I feel about this matte lip gloss.
Price- Rs.279 for 4.5ml
My Experience with Essence XXXL Longlasting Lip Gloss 07 Silky Red
Packaging-
This lip gloss comes in a sleek cylindrical plastic container with a screw lid. The lid has a doe foot applicator attached to it. This applicator wand to long; so it will reach out to the product stuck in the bottom of the container. It makes the application process hassle-free too. The packaging is quite sturdy, travel-friendly and leakage-safe.
Shade-
The shade 07 Silky Red comes under Essence’s XXXL Longlasting Lip Gloss in ‘The Matt’ collection. I don’t exactly know how many shades are there in ‘The Matt’ range but out of the ones I got a chance to see this 07 Silky Red was the only bold shade. This is a vibrant blue toned red. This kind of shade suits both warm and cool undertones. Naturally, it is going to look good on Indian complexions.
Texture, Finish & Pigmentation-
Though the product has been named as a ‘lip gloss’, it is more inclined towards liquid lipsticks. It is a smooth lip cream that spreads very easily on the lips but never dries off completely like a liquid matte lipstick. It actually settles down with a slightly matte but creamy finish. The color payoff is awesome. I do not need to go over more than once to get the exact shade.
Fragrance-
This lip gloss has a vanilla fragrance to it. It actually smells like Quality Walls’ vanilla ice cream. I really enjoy the fragrance!
Staying Power-
The staying power of this lip gloss is better than average ‘glossy’ lip glosses but not more than 5 hours. Then it starts to fade on the moisturizing part; the stain remains like a lip tint. Its creamy formula makes the color to transfer a lot. The pigment on the center part of the lips goes off after drinks or meals.
Experience-
This is my first lip gloss with matte formula and this one has made my expectation quite high. Its pigmentation is awesome and staying power is also good considering non-matte lip glosses. The shade is pretty and is suitable for everyone including those with pigmented lips. It transfers a lot and has a tendency to settle down into the creases of lips if applied too much. Thankfully it does not emphasize the dry and chapped areas of the lips but if your lips are chapped it may leave stains after removal.
Pros-
- Nice cool toned bold red shade
- Intense pigmentation
- Good staying power
- Does not dry out the lips
- Creamy finish with just a little matte effect
Cons-
- Transfers like a normal lip gloss
- Leaves light stain behind if applied on chapped lips
Would I Repurchase or Recommend?
Essence XXXL Longlasting Lip Gloss 07 Silky Red is a great blue toned red shade with great pigmentation. This is certainly a value for money product for me considering the price point and quality so I am certainly going to repurchase it! Just try it once guys you will love it!
