The term tadasana originated from Sanskrit words, where ‘tada’ means mountain. It was named so because you stand unmoving and upright. Usually, all the standing poses include variations in a certain part of your body or individual joint which increases the height and improves our posture, if practiced regularly.

Step by step instruction/Method

  1. With your feet together and hands at your sides, stand straight on firm ground and look in the front. You can check the alignment of your pose with your back against the wall.
  2. Try balancing yourself on your heels such that the weight on each foot is even, and raise your toes while holding the position for 10 seconds.
  3. After 10 seconds, bring the toes back on the ground and move your pubic bone forward.
  4. At the same time, lift your chest, and take a deep breath while you inhale and exhale. After that, you raise your head. Lift the base of your head towards the ceiling, this helps in exercising your neck.
  5. Now put all the pressure on your toes, lift your legs up, first your calves and then your thighs. Keep your breath steady and remain in the position for 10 breaths.
  6. Gradually, come back to the original position and then slowly repeat the process again.

Precautionary measures

  1. If you are suffering from constant headaches, low blood pressure, and insomnia, it’s best to avoid this asana.
  2. Practicing this Asana during the pregnancy period should be prevented.
  3. Those who feel dizzy should avoid tadasana.

How many times to be done?

It is a 5-minute yoga exercise and should be repeated 2 to 4 times a day, to be effective.

Chakrasana Benefits

by Anupma SD

Chakrasana Benefits: Chakrasana is known as Wheel Pose. It’s also given terms such as Upward-Facing Bow Pose and Back Bridge. The name ‘Chakrasana’ is derived from Sanskrit words, wherein ‘chakra’ means ‘wheel’ and ‘asana’ means ‘posture’ or ‘seat’. It is a part of Ashtanga yoga. It is a backward bending pose which increases the flexibility of the spine. Let’s look at the steps to get better closure on the Asana.

Benefits of chakrasana
  1. Helps increase the flexibility of the body.
  2. Improves respiratory system
  3. Strengthens your bones and muscles.
  4. Help get rid of stress and tension as it strengthens your nervous system
  5. Reduces fat present in abdomen and belly.
  6. Aids in getting rid of gastric problems by strengthening the digestive system.
  7. Helps in curing hernia.
  8. Leads to better functioning of the liver, heart, spleen, and kidneys.
Steps to follow for chakrasana
  1. Lie down comfortably on a yoga mat, on your back. Lift your face such that you’re looking straight in an upward direction.
  2. Now, fold your legs and bend them down below such that the soles of your feet are touching the ground. Keep in mind to maintain a distance of at least 30 cm between each knee and feet.
  3. Place your hands beneath your shoulders, besides your head such that your fingers face your legs.
  4. Take a deep breath and slowly raise your body.
  5. While raising your body, arch your back
  6. Lift your head and torso from the ground and try to straighten your hands and legs as much as you can
  7. Arch your back further but make sure not to strain it. Keep your neck relaxed.
  8. Now, try to balance the pose on your foot fingers, by slowly raising your heels while keeping your hands firmly on the ground.
  9. Stay in this position as long as you’re comfortable, then slowly exhale while returning to a normal position by lowering your body to the ground.

Practice chakrasana 3 times a day for better flexibility of the body. But make sure you do easier stretching exercises like bending forward, before going for chakrasana.

  1. Pregnant women should avoid chakrasana.
  2. It’s best not to practice chakrasana directly. Do some bending exercises beforehand.
  3. People with weakness in wrist or spine should avoid this.
  4. It should not be practiced by those suffering from any ailments.

Biotique Bio Morning Nectar Sunscreen Ultra Soothing Face Lotion

Who is it for?  Biotique Bio Morning Nectar Sunscreen Ultra Soothing Face Lotion Is a light day lotion with SPF 30.

Biotique Bio Morning Nectar Sunscreen Ultra Soothing Face Lotion

Price- Rs 199/- for 120ml
Any sensitive skin alert?

Steps to apply Bio Morning Nectar

Apply evenly and gently over cleansed face and neck, twice in a day. Preferably morning and evening

My experience with Biotique Bio Morning Nectar Sunscreen Ultra Soothing Face Lotion

After having used a few Biotique products, I would say this has been quite effective although it leaves the skin oily, at times. I usually applied it in the morning before going out, so it served as a good sunscreen. In addition, I like the herbal fragrance. But I did not notice much difference in my skin tone after using the product. I would recommend it for those who have dry and sensitive skin. It has a milky white color and thick consistency with a herbal fragrance that stays for 2 to 3 hours. It helped moisturize left my skin soft. It acts as an effective sunscreen although it left my skin greasy sometimes.

The product comes in a neat, plastic bottle packaging that is convenient to use and carry.

The texture of the face lotion is a little thick, smooth and consistent. It does not get absorbed quickly and makes the skin oily and sticky, especially for those who already have a little oily skin.

It is effective as a sunscreen and protected me from getting tanned but at the same time, it did not lighten my skin tone or give a fairer complexion as it claims.

The face lotion stays for 4 to 5 hours although the fragrance vanishes. It’s best to use before 3 years from the date of manufacture.

What did I like?
  1. The face lotion moisturizes your skin properly, notably effective in case of dry skin and also during winters.
  2. Leaves the skin soft and supple.
  3. It is not very expensive and is enriched with 100% botanical extracts.
  4. Doesn’t cause skin acne or breakouts.
What I didn't like
  1. The strong herbal fragrance may lead to irritability
  2. After applying the face lotion, the skin becomes oily and sticky.
  3. Even a little amount of face lotion applied made my skin extremely oily.
  4. There is no pump dispenser
Would I recommend or repurchase it?

Biotique makes use of Ayurveda in all skin care products. Although it maintains a certain consistency and a pleasant fragrance, I would not recommend people specifically in summers or those who have oily skin to use this. For me, this face lotion is a strict no, no, to be reused. But I’d recommend it for those with dry skin.
