We’re all so focused on having hair that looks good at all times. And so, we give into the various chemicals treatments that salons have to offer. From hair color to straightening, perming, keratin, cysteine…we want to try it all. Also, we style our hair so often that the heat tends to damage it. Apart from that, the pollution to adds to it. And so we have to make sure that we take care of it. While we eat nutritious food, we also need to use some home remedies to keep it well moisturized.

Avocados
When hair is damaged, it also loses its luster. Avocados are rich in vitamins, essential fatty acids, and minerals that help restore luster. Mash a ripe avocado with one egg and apply it to damp hair. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then rinse well. Do this once a week and you will see results.
Olive Oil
Olive oil is packed with fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamin E and so it heals damaged hair by sealing the cuticle with moisture. Warm the oil, depending on the amount you need for your hair and then rub it into your hair well. Cover the hair with a shower cap and let it sit for 30-40 minutes after which, you can shampoo and condition. You can also add a few drops of castor and coconut oil.
Eggs
Eggs have protein, minerals, and essential fatty acids which provide nutrients and nourish the hair strands. Whisk egg and then massage into the scalp and hair and then leave it on for 20 minutes. Then rinse with water and shampoo as usual.
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is very good for damaged hair as it contains enzymes, amino acids and vitamins C & E. The juice of aloe vera can be applied directly to damaged hair and kept for 20 minutes. Or, it can be mixed with coconut oil and yogurt and then be applied to the hair.
Banana
Bananas which are rich in potassium, vitamins and natural oils can soften the hair and improve the elasticity. Blend two overripe bananas with coconut oil, olive oil, and honey and apply to the hair. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then rinse. Alternatively, mash one banana and work it through your hair and leave for an hour before rinsing.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with two tablespoons of olive oil and three egg whites and apply on your hair. Then cover with a shower cap for 20 minutes and then shampoo and rinse as usual.
Amla
Amla or Indian Gooseberry has been used extensively in Ayurveda. It has many medicinal qualities which include promoting hair growth and treating hair damage. The juice from amla can be extracted and applied on the hair. The dried powder can also be applied to the hair.

You can actually mix castor oil and olive oil in the ratio 1 : 2 . Btw, great article.

Can be used on keratin treated hair too. However, avoid the oil based remedies as oil requires atleast two shampoos…and that will make your treatment wash off faster.
