Gomukhasana or cow face pose is a yoga asana. It is a seated, hip opener type of asana. It includes stretching the muscles of thorax, arms, axilla, shoulders, hips, thighs and ankles.

  1. This asana relaxes the muscles of the back, making your back more flexible and elastic.
  2. Helps in alleviating sciatica pain.
  3. It can help in relieving stiffness in the shoulders.
  4. It can help in reducing stress and anxiety.
How to perform Gomukhasana
  1. Sit on the ground with back straight.
  2. Stretch your legs in front of you.
  3. Now slowly bend your left leg at the level of your knee, and place it under your right buttock.
  4. Repeat it with the right leg and place it under your left buttock by folding it at the knee.
  5. Now stack your right knee at the top of your left knee.
  6. Fold your left arm at your elbow and place it behind your back.
  7. Try to reach for your left hand with your right hand by taking your right arm over your right shoulder.
  8. Now while keeping your trunk erect try to lean a little backward.
  9. Maintain this pose as long as you.
  10. Get back to the original position once you are done.
