I generally avoid heat tools for my hair but lately, my hair has been exposed to those damaging tools quite frequently. My hair’s natural wavy texture is very prone to damage and that is why a proper deep conditioning has become an essential preventive measure. I do overnight oiling 1-2 times a week but deep conditioning is a more effective option. So I recently got Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrasource Hydrating Masque. This is basically a salon series hair spa product from Matrix. Salon people use this particular product for my hair and each hair spa costs me around 1500 bucks. The tub I bought holds product for 10-12 hair spa for my hair at just one-third moolah! Let’s see if it can give me salon result or not.

My Experience with Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrasource Hydrating Masque

Packaging- This hair mask comes in a white colored bulky tub with a violet screw lid. The tub houses 490gm product so it is not at all travel-friendly. This is a salon product and not a retail one that is why there are no smaller sizes available. The tub is leakage-proof and very sturdy. Generally, tub packaging is not considered as hygienic. I use a wooden ice-cream spoon to take out the desired amount of product.

Colour & Texture- The mask is thick and creamy. Its color is pure white. The consistency is good for a deep conditioning mask. It spreads easily over damp hair and gets removed easily as well. It does not weigh down the hair if it has been rinsed off properly. This mask does not leave behind any sticky residue.

Fragrance- The mask smells awesome. Its fragrance is a mixture of floral and bubblegum scent. The sweet fragrance lasts for 2 days on my hair.

Experience- I generally opt for L’Oreal or Matrix hair spa at the salon so this Hydrating mask is not a new product for me. I have had good results with it (of course at the salon!). I was curious to see if it gives the same effect at home or not. I like to wash my hair before deep conditioning. I put this spa cream generously on the strands of my damp hair. The water helps the product to spread better. Then I wrap a hot towel around my hair and let it stay for 30-40 minutes. This treatment does soften my hair and reduces the lifelessness. My hair does not fall limp and no oily residue is left behind. The frizziness minimizes and detangling becomes easy. It defines curls to some extent (certainly not like a curl defining cream!). From the first use I notice smoothness in my hair though there is no stunning shine; just a healthy luster. The result is very similar to salon spa at the fraction of the cost.

Would I Repurchase or Recommend?

Yes, certainly! Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrasource Hydrating Masque is a very economic salon alternative for my rough and frizzy hair. I would certainly buy it again. I would like to suggest this mask to someone with dry, damaged, heat or chemically treated hair. This is surely a steal as I am getting at least 10 hair spa out of it at just one-third price of a single salon hair spa!
