Philips Kerashine Hair Straightener

Philips Kerashine Hair Straightener Review

by Neha M

All of us love straight, manageable, silky and smooth hair don’t we? But no matter what hair damage is a big no. Only a girl can understand the struggle to find a Straightener that makes our hair look flawless and yet not damages it. To make your struggle a little easier here is a review of Philips Kerashine Hair Straightener.

Philips Kerashine Hair Straightener

Philips Kerashine Hair Straightener 4

Details about the Philips Kerashine Hair Straightener

Philips is a known name in the electronic beauty accessory department. The specialty of this range are the ceramic coated plates which reduce heat damage on the hair, in addition to that, this particular range of hair Straightener have wider plates which help in straightening our hair quicker and reduces breakage. Apparently, the plates are infused with keratins which add shine to the hair. Last but not the least this Straightener manages to heat up to 210 degrees in 1 minute.

My experience with Philips Kerashine Hair Straightener

The Straightener comes in a cardboard box. The body design is like any other Straightener, it is black in color and easy to hold and use. The design is such that your hand doesn’t get tired while you are straightening your hair.

I have been using this Hair Straightener for the past two years now, so I feel that I am in a position to scrutinize the product and present its pros and cons before all of you. As soon as I told my mom that this Straightener is by Philips, she was impressed. Philips has known for its long-lasting products and its legacy goes back to the time when most of us were not even born. Coming back to this particular product, this Straightener was my first one, so as excited and pumped I was about using it; the product failed to live up to my expectations. I have really curly and frizzy hair, so I need to run the Straightener twice or thrice through my hair to get the poker straight look.

My hair doesn’t become very shiny after I straighten my hair, it becomes smooth but that’s pretty obvious because once you straighten your hair, it tends to get detangled and becomes smooth as a result.

I haven’t faced any hair damages from using the Straightener as such, in fact the wider plates do make the process breakage free, the only thing which bothers me regarding damage is that my hair becomes more frizzy than it usually is after I wash my hair post straightening, however that tames down within a few days so that’s not a big deal.

Coming to the shortcomings, this Straightener does not come with a temperature switch, that is, you cannot set the temperature, the heat depends on the time you keep the Straightener on, that causes a problem because then you need to keep a track of time.

Finally, the price, two years back I bought this Straightener off Amazon for 1300 rupees, at that time, 1300 for a Straightener was not cheap and now they have priced the same Straightener at 2540 which is definitely very pricey. I really feel that there are better cheaper options in the market.

Exposed by Incolor Soft Matte Lip Cream Vienna 20

Exposed by Incolor Soft Matte Lip Cream Vienna 20 Review

by Neha M

Who is it for? Exposed by Incolor Soft Matte Lip Cream Vienna 20  is for everyday use, for those who find Liquid Matte lip colors drying and especially for those wanting lasting liquid nude shades at a very reasonable cost.

Exposed by Incolor Soft Matte Lip Cream Vienna 20

6mL for ₹250

Shelf life

18 months after the day of opening

How to use

Like any other Liquid Lip color use the wand to apply to your lips. (wait for a few seconds for it to dry). You can exfoliate your lips as well before application so as to prevent chapping of lips.

Sensitive skin alert?

My experience with Exposed by Incolor Soft Matte Lip Cream Vienna 20

This liquid lip color comes in a rectangular plastic transparent body. The transparent body makes it very convenient to identify the shade. It has a black cap which makes it very sleek. It has a doe- foot applicator, which enables easy application and helps define lips. It absorbs enough product for a single application which prevents dipping the applicator multiple times. The bottle comes in a regular grey cardboard box; however, the design of the outer covering is very luxurious. The packaging is spill proof.

Shade and texture

This shade, that is, 20 Vienna is a pink nude shade with brown undertones, almost like a light mauve shade. It would look very flattering for light to medium skin tones however it may appear to wash out the darker tones. This shade is a bit darker than shade 430 of the Matt Me range and the exposed lip shade range stays true to its shade, unlike the Matte Me ones which turn one shade lighter after drying. The texture is very creamy, it glides over the lips. The shade, however, applies lighter on the lips than it does when you swatch it on the wrists.

The lip color lasts for about 7 hours. The lip color is not completely transferred proof but has a decent resistance. The lip color dries in seconds and after that holds on pretty well.

It has a very mild coffee fragrance similar to that of Lakme 9 to 5 mousse lip and cheek tint coffee lite shade, however, the fragrance of the Incolor exposed range is very faint and is barely noticeable in contrast to Lakme which has a very strong fragrance.

I have been on the lookout for the perfect nude lipstick and I won’t deny that this range fits the bill. The formula is not at all drying rather feels like a lip gloss. The lip color dries and turns matte in barely 3 seconds. It doesn’t transfer easily and it is smudge proof. The wand prevents spillage. I love nude shades that suit the majority of skin tones, this one, however, may wash out darker tones. Overall, I do not regret this purchase and would recommend this for daily wear. For the price, this is a perfect nude lipstick.

What do I like about it?
  1. Price
  2. Cream formula
  3. Packaging
  4. Texture
  5. Ideal for everyday use
  6. Nude shade
  7. Moist matte
What do I not like about it?
  1. Nothing!
Would I recommend this?

Of course! For this price, I would definitely go for this matte liquid lip color.

Toni & Guy Heat Protection Mist

Toni & Guy Heat Protection Mist Review

by Neha M

Who is it for? Toni & Guy Heat Protection Mist is supposed to be for people who easily damage their hair from using heat appliances.

Toni & Guy Heat Protection Mist

₹750, ₹563 on Nykaa

Net Quantity

How to use it?

The spray comes with a lock on its neck. Push unlock to use it.

Spray before blow drying or in between your hair straightening/curling sessions.

My experience with Toni & Guy Heat Protection Mist

It does protect my hair from heat, but I don’t feel that it smoothens it and at times it even fails to prevent the frizziness. Since it fails to preserve the shine, I usually apply some other serum after I am done using heat.

The Mist comes in a compact spray bottle, which has a lock on its neck. Easy to hold and easy to use.

Texture/ Consistency

The texture is fine and the consistency is very liquid, almost like that of water.

The mist has a very strong and pleasant fragrance.

What did I like about it?
  1. It does its job of protecting your hair from heat.
  2. The texture is fine
  3. The lock makes it travel-friendly.
  4. Price
What did I not like about it?
  1. First of all the lock on its neck, gave me a hard time when I used it for the first time. I was trying to use the spray, unaware of the lock system, it was only after a very close scrutinizing that I came across the lock
  2. Does not preserve the natural shine of your hair
  3. No smoothening
Would I recommend this product?

I have naturally frizzy hair, hence that sort of justifies the product’s failure to preserve any shine or texture. The product is not too pricey hence I would recommend this product to someone who probably has good textured hair but a big NO for those who have frizzy or dry hair like I do.

Loreal Professional Serie Expert Sensi Balance Shampoo

Who is it for? Loreal Professional Serie Expert Sensi Balance Shampoo is meant for those with scalp irritations or a sensitive scalp. The loreal professional range was recommended by one of the hair stylists at a Habib’s parlor. This shampoo does the job of calming and treating the scalp but, in terms of treating the hair, this shampoo failed to live up to my expectations. This shampoo is supposed to do the job for both a shampoo and a conditioner, but I my case, it lagged behind in the ‘conditioner’ part. It does leave your hair feeling fresh and clean but doesn’t moisturize it. You might want to follow it up with a separate conditioner or a serum.

Loreal Professional Serie Expert Sensi Balance Shampoo

Price INR 575 for 250 mL
How to use

Apply to wet hair. Massage well and then rinse off completely.

Sensitivity Alert?

My experience with Loreal Professional Serie Expert Sensi Balance Shampoo

It comes in a blue-tinted clear bottle. Has a very convenient cap.

Texture/ Consistency

The shampoo is a clear, liquid. The consistency is almost like that of water. However, after application it becomes soapy but the consistency remains the same.

It has a very soothing and a fresh fragrance, definitely one of the plus points of the shampoo. The fragrance is very unique too.

What did I like about it?
  1. Fragrance
  2. Treats the scalp
  3. Cool Soothing feeling
What did I not like?
  1. Price
  2. Very little moisturization
Would I recommend?

To someone with scalp problems, I might recommend, but given the price and the fact that it sometimes leaves your hair frizzy (probably because I used this shampoo during the monsoon season), I won’t repurchase or recommend this product to someone looking for an all-rounder shampoo.

Braun Face Epilator 810

Braun Face Epilator 810 – Should You Buy ?

by Neha M

Who is it for? Braun Face Epilator 810  is for all the ladies who find frequent trips to the parlor a nagging errand and for those who need a quick and easy alternative to the regular waxing and threading sessions.

Braun Face Epilator 810

How to use it?

To use the Epilator, make sure that it is installed with an AA battery. The epilator has a twin direction switch, hence allowing mobility through the face. Ideally the movement of the epilator should be against the hair growth, for maximum results, however, you can use it as you feel comfortable. Don’t forget to pull the skin before epilation so that skin doesn’t get stuck in the epilator and even if it does do not panic, the epilator will stop immediately.

For Facial cleansing, pull out the epilation head and put on the cleansing brush head. Apply any facial scrub or even a face wash and then switch on the cleansing brush, move your hand in a circular motion, enjoy the soothing massage. After cleansing washes your face with normal water.

I bought this epilator off Flipkart at INR2,499 however the MRP is INR4900.

My experience with Braun Face Epilator 810

With this product, Braun has become the first company to launch an epilator-facial cleanser designed especially for the face. I always had a problem with my sideburns and all the ladies know that there is no perfect method to remove hair from the face. Threading makes the growth thicker, waxing loosens the skin and home remedies just take forever to work. This epilator truly was like a blessing for me. It removes hair as tiny as 0.02 mm from the root, without pulling the skin. Its head is designed for high precision for areas such as upper lips, chin, sideburns, and forehead. I wouldn’t recommend using it for the eyebrows, because there is always a risk of ruining the shape, however, if you are professional and are confident enough then you can definitely use it for the eyebrows as well. I Have been using this epilator for 18 months now and it has rescued me from multiple situations and saved me the most fretted trips to the parlor. As far as the cleansing brush is concerned, it does an amazing job removing makeup and can be used for regular exfoliation, it will leave your skin feeling squeaky clean, fresh and soft.

The Epilator comes in a black container with different sections for different parts. This container is covered in a black and purple box. The packaging contains the epilator, cleansing brush head, travel cap and a cleaning brush. The container also has a transparent cover to keep everything in place.

Colour and Texture

The epilator is white in color and has a slim body, making it travel-friendly and easy to use.

Sensitivity Alert

Ladies who get reactions from threading or waxing on the face should maintain caution while using the epilator. Change the cleansing brush every 3 months to maintain hygiene and prevent rashes.

What I like about this?
  • One of its kind
  • Convenient
  • Travel-Friendly
  • Multi-purposed
  • Handy
What I did not like?
  • Might be painful for some
  • A little overpriced
  • The fuss of changing batteries
Would I repurchase or recommend?

Yes. I would definitely recommend this epilator. It is a one-time investment. However, I may not repurchase this, there are several other options from Braun within the same range that work for the body as well, but for someone looking for something that works for the face exclusively, this is an ideal buy.

Philips Satinelle Epilator

Philips Satinelle Epilator – Boon or Bane ?

by Neha M

Who is it for? This Philips Satinelle Epilator is for women who are always on the go and at the same time cannot afford to compromise with their confidence and comfort.

Philips Satinelle Epilator

How to use it?

After you open the packaging, you will most probably have the epilation head already attached to the body but if not, push the head in a sliding motion sideways on the body, you will hear a click and that means that the head has been securely placed on the body. Connect the charger to a power point and switch on the epilator. Initially, you might want to begin with the lower speed setting and as you get comfortable with the epilator, you can increase the speed.  If you find epilation too painful or if you feel that the epilation head is causing your skin to cut, use the sensitive area cap, it should help.

I bought this Epilator off Amazon at INR 1899, however, the MRP is INR 2695.

My experience with Philips Satinelle Epilator HP6421/00, Legs and Body

This was my first epilator and according to general perception, epilators are supposed to extremely painful since they pull the hair one by one from the root and no gain without pain, right? Prior to using this epilator, I swore to wax. I personally have a pretty high threshold for pain, hence when I used this epilator for the first time, I wasn’t in a lot of discomforts. This epilator does a good job removing hair from the legs, underarms and even the belly area but I tend to get extremely thin growth on my hands and that is where this epilator requires a little more effort. Another shortcoming of this epilator is the noise, it has a very loud noise and that can be irritating sometimes. On legs, it gives a finish as smooth as waxing does. Unlike shaving, since the epilator pulls the hair from the roots, the hair regrows only after two weeks and just like wax it does make the growth sparser though I cannot advocate for the complete disappearance of hair growth. Even though this epilator does not come with a light, it is a good deal for the price.

Finally, I have been using this epilator for one and a half year and I can say, so far so good.

The epilator comes in a white box, which has a plastic component separator, to keep your epilator in an organized manner. The package contains a user guide, a cleaning brush, and the sensitive area cap.

Colour and texture

The epilator is white in color with violet graphic designs on It. The epilator has a rounded shape which makes it easier to hold.

Sensitivity Alert

There is no sensitivity alert as such, but people who get rashes from waxing should be cautious, even the rashes are often caused by the wax but it is better to be careful. Another thing to be noted is that this epilator is not for the face, only for the body, facial skin is sensitive in comparison to the rest of the body, so it is advisable to use a facial epilator.

What I liked about this?
  • Cost-effective
  • No fuss of changing batteries
  • Hygienic
  • Less time consuming than waxing
  • Reduces growth
  • Convenient
What I did not like ?
  • Noise
  • Might be painful for some
Would I repurchase or recommend?

Definitely, I have recommended this epilator to many people, a great purchase for first-time epilator users, however, there are many other epilators in the market which are little expensive than this model but come loaded with a lot more features, hence those who are comfortable with epilators can look at other options. Otherwise, this device provides a lucrative alternative to boring and irritating trips to the parlor.

Chambor Smooth On Eyeliner

Chambor Smooth On Eyeliner – is a Good Buy ?

by Neha M

Who is it for? Chambor Smooth On Eyeliner is for those women who are always on the go and cannot afford to worry about smudges and reapplication.

Chambor Smooth On Eyeliner

How to use?

Just open the Eyeliner and apply it on the lids of your eyes, just above the lashes. You can start by outlining and then filling in. For removing the liner, you can use a normal makeup remover or Vaseline, it is a little difficult to remove and hence would require at least 2-3 swaps.

INR 645

My Experience with Chambor Smooth-On Eyeliner

My experience with this eyeliner has been amazing. This silky soft eyeliner glides like a dream and gives a very precise finish. Liquid and gel liners had been a nightmare for me but this liner definitely changed my opinion.

The Eye Liner comes in a very User- friendly packaging. It has an outer cover, which is pretty durable and inside it the eyeliner itself. The eyeliner comes in a beautiful black body with the Chambor logo on it.

The Eyeliner has a gel consistency, which enables it to smoothly glide on your eye lids without any hassle.

In my experience, the eyeliner stays on for as long as 24 hours, it doesn’t smudge and even after you’d had a long day it stays on. It requires only one application and it is highly pigmented which makes sure that the first application itself does the job for you. Each stroke uses very little product and hence the entire bottle last for a long time.

What did I like about it?
  • Consistency
  • Durability
  • Texture
  • Finish
  • Waterproof
To buy or not to buy?

I would highly recommend buying this product. It is a little expensive than normal drugstore eyeliners but the price is totally worth it. The eyeliner lasted me a year which I think is pretty amazing.

Rating 5/5
